I just got the code...but I am not giving them that kind of money for this repair. I'm gonna check the fuse first. If that doesn't solve it then I can live with the CEL. Or I'll find a way to cut thru the body and do it.

I guess a lot of people are having this issue.

back when I searched for it I couldn't find anything...
my car is not stock at all so dealer warranty was out of the question for me.
but for anyone that has this problem and is debating to DIY it.
I'd say go for it.
1. jack up the car, setup some towers.
2. remove rear wheels
3. remove 4 cradle bolts
4. remove rear brake calipers
5. remove 4 drive shaft bolts
6. remove 1 shock absorber bolt (bottom one) per side.
7. lower cradle assy out of the way.
8. remove EVAP canister assy. (2 10mm bolts and hoses)
9. replace valve ( one small bolt, plastic clip is a pain broke mine but it dont matter its part of the bad valve anyways)
10. re-assemble

total time 1.5h if you know the rear Camaro suspension.
for me it was easy, had previously done solid bushings and suspension components.

Hope this helps some one.

Evap solenoid failures are a tradition on GM vehicles. My van has had two in 100K, my truck had 4 in 244K, and I see them almost every day at work. You'd think in the 18 years or so they've been using the current design, they'd get it right eventually.

He said drive it, the performance will not be affected, no problem. So, rather than calling Chev. and whining about something, I chose to leave them alone and let them suffer from the result of their not taking care of their problem. As soon as I get this problem fixed, along with the twice broken drivers seat electrical motor and a new air conditioner compressor, I plan to sell it.( 103,000 miles, 2010 model)
What will I buy ? Another Camaro, of course. I've never received so many compliments on a car in my life. It's only an RS with Red Jewel Tint Coat paint, but folks just have to tell you how beautiful your car is. It's like what I would imagine it would be like dating Jennifer Lawrence. Yep.
Great analogy funbun! if you're ever in the neighborhood, let's have a cold one- Yep!

I'm told over filling the gas tank contributes to failures?

On most of the older ones, the fact it vents to atmosphere with no filter is the problem- they get full of dirt. The new style I just put on my conversion van has an external filter.
The carbon canisters can be absolutely destroyed by filling with gas, but the valve itself- I doubt it.

Then I would first attempt and on car repair. Blast it with sensor safe intake cleaner spray, then follow up with mystery oil mist.
Providing you can get a vac line off, have not been under there to look.

EVAC Valve

Hey...I know this is an old thread but figured I'd post anyway.

Bought my 2010 RS in July 2016 with ~29k miles. Last week CEL came on...read and cleared code but still came back...P0449 have ~47k miles now.

Attempting to schedule diagnosis with nearby GM Dealer in Delaware.

Anyone have any ideas if the prices quoted here are still "valid". Contacted GM Assist already and was told that only warranty still valid is Emission Select Component Limited Warranty until 03/2019 or 80k miles.

But even that seems unlikely.

Anyone have any updates?

Thanks
Will

Mine just came on yesterday too. Reading through this, I wonder if my local mechanic can just do it. I also have P0513 show up on the code reader as well. I don't think the "Immobilizer Key" is related? I will try to clear them and see if them come back before I repair anything.

My car is a 2010 LT/RS with ~60k miles on it. No engine mods...

EDIT - I found this link that explains the P0513
