Just lowering the rear of the 1LE

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but has anyone just lowered the rear of their 1LE to close up some of that fender gap? If so, what springs did you go with & how does it compare to the stock setup. Thanks

Justice Pete's recommendation for the 1LE was to install 1" lowering springs in the rear only, along with the Pedders Permagrin kit. I did just that. Lowering the rear 1" in my opinion improves the cars appearance and handling. No issues at all with a 1" drop in the rear only. Some who have done more than an inch have run into issues with axle shaft grease leakage due to misalignment.
I used the Pedders 1" drop springs. I don't remember the part number. Other companies that are still selling parts in the US also make 1" drop springs.

The Pedders springs are the 220035's. I have them installed on my car and it sits level. Here's a pic.

Thanks for the info guys.
Jksynergy...from what I have found, the 220035's are for the convertible & zl1. It looks like the ones I would want are the 220033? That's even if I can find anyone that still has a set laying around in stock.

BMR has 1" rear springs that they sell separately.

You could use either one. I found a set of 35's earlier this year from a guy in Ohio. I know I have his last set. I chose those as they are not as low as the 33's and the ride is fantastic. In fact, just came home from LSFest where we autocrossed and did the Baer Brakes 3S challenge. With the car fully loaded for the trip and 2 passengers, no issues at all. The key thing with springs is that you want LINEAR ratings, not Progressive. Here's a link as to what is being used by at least one guy, Dropspeed, that tracks his heavily.

The racing has been really good. Just got back from LSFest. We ran good when compared to pro built pro touring cars. Have a double event this weekend and hoping to move up from 4th overall in class to 3rd or higher. Both the car and I are getting better for sure.

Does anyone know if the Pedders 220033 is a 1" drop or a 1.5" drop. I thought it was a 1" drop, but it looks like from their website that it is a 1.5" drop.
Debating between those or the BMR 1" rear springs.

The 220033 is a 30-35mm ride height difference.

This horse is dead!

The ZL1 springs will work and lower the car, but they are progressive. If it is a street car go for it. I would avoid them if you track the car and get the BMR 1" rear springs which are linear. Please search if you want to read the pages of debate
