Tune and upgrades.

Taking my 14 vert zl1 into local speed shop for "stage 1".
Here is the list of what they are doing. They said rwhp should see a gain of 60-70. Any thoughts or additional parts needed.

NGK tr6 spark plugs
160 thermostat
ID1050 fuel injectors
Port throttle body and supercharger snout
Mecto modular 2.5 upper pulley and hub, solid isolator coupler
CAI
Tune and dyno

Dump the 160 Thermostat. I have seen a few people have some issues with the car not actually running warm enough. I did that when I was first starting out as well, and I am now fully built top to bottom, and back to stock thermostat. Spend that $10 on a set of headers!

As you can see in my sig some things I agree with a few others are not a great idea, e.g. the 160. When a person says that a few who don't know better jump in and argue. If you go back to your tuner and said some old dude on the internet said some of these things were not worth doing or there is a better option do you think he will be happy?
Looks like most people took the route I did and just not reply.
If you want to read up on belt slip it's up to you.
I'm not going to respond to the next 5 people who come on now and say ain't no such thing.

Didn't 100 percent follow you but I think your point is dump the the thermostat and the upper pulley is a bad idea?

The porting is not enough bang for the buck, spend it on headers...LOL

I have a similar setup...2.5 upper, IDX1050's, rotofab, tune

It put down 585/552 on a dynojet

Very happy with it

I have that exact same setup on mine minus the thermostat. Gained me 60rwhp over stock tuned on 91 octane and love it. Really woke the car up, zero change to reliability or drivability aside from a much louder blower whine!

I would have the blower ported since it's coming off anyways. (since you are spending money, do it right the first time. (just my opinion) But nothing wrong with your route if money is a factor.

Trade the metco pulley for a griptec pulley.

Doing mods to get more air into the engine, but, no mods to get the extremely hot air out of the engine. (cat delete, headers)? I would throw on some headers as step 1.

Most Important; What is your shop going to do to the fuel system to maintain fuel pressure with that upper pulley? (Chevrolet didn't give us very much room to grow with the stock system) Something you could ask them about and see what they offer

It's so quiet stock that I wasn't expecting much, but man it's so much louder afterwards

It depends on preferences

Griptech does a better job preventing slip, but the biggest issue with it (that kept me from getting one) is the appearance. It doesn't look remotely stock.

Metco looks stock but needs a 100mm idler to help with wrap

I think reliability and safety should come before appearance. Why does it have to look stock?

Preference. I don't like gaudy, out of place looking pieces. Griptec looks trashy imo. Stock appearing is clean.

Reliability/safety is not greatly compromised with a Metco/idler vs griptec. If it was, I would've gone with a lower pulley.
