finally saved up my pennies and am ordering my mag 2300 and a stage 1 blower cam double valve springs and hardened pushrods and a $775 tune from vengeance racing, any thoughts where i may wind up at the rear wheel and second question, is $775 a bit much for a tune? newbie here, just asking

Is this a mail order tune on one of those SCT devices that plugs into your PCM? If yes, that device itself run about ~$300. Or are they sending the tune as file to be loaded via software like HPTuner or others?

I see.

Here are a few factors to consider for tuning:
a) A stock car with stock cam is less time consuming and easier.
b) S/C with stock cam is more complex.
c) S/C with new cam is even more complex.

A GOOD tune is worth the $775.

p.s. I'd ask Ron to explain to you what is being covered with the $775 charge.

$775 for a tune seems excessive even with a supercharger and a cam. If you pay them that much be sure to ask them if they are going to charge you for every item that you add to the vehicle if you buy the parts from them. If so then I would not let them do it and I would find another tuner.

The tune could very well be a SD 2 bar tune which takes a long time to do.No mail order tune could do something like that.

These cars have very good self learning computers which help crutch alot of tunes. Most tuners rely on this and makes it easier to mailorder the tune.

Want to check how good your tune is? Cut the maf signal wire and unplug the 02's. Then go out on the road and floor it through the gears.

Point is, a good tune can cost $$ done right. Vengeance is capable of good tunes.
