No way, I thought for sure it'd be 70k. This car definitely is moved up my list of cars to hunt for in a couple of years when I pay off my current Camaro. Not blown away by the Mustang and the T4 Camaro scares me.

Good price by Dodge if this is true.

If these are under 60 grand that is just amazing. Definitely will sell as many as they can make at that price... I want one myself!

Now you have to take that car, add the entire newly updated interior and the cost of R&Ding that and then making it, the Super Charger and all supporting components. The engine is basically built, you couldnt just take the 392 engine and slap a SC on and make 700 as reliably as the Hellcat will. Then bigger brakes, cooling, suspension, wheels/tires, any special exterior mods etc.

If you wanted to take a 392 and give it all the same performance of the Hellcat with the OEM reliability + quality you'd hit at least 70gs(50+20 in mods).

If they can really get it done for 60k MSRP then that is AMAZINGGG and a HUGE WIN for Dodge.

Tine will tell
I'll just point out MSRP and Dodge's cost to make the car are not the same thing. The fact that the car costs $50K retail doesn't mean it cost Dodge $50K to build it.

Hey, as a guy who works for Ma Mopar I'd seriously consider one - if - it prices near the ZL1 hardtop and has an unlocked 'puter.

If you want to compare HP, you also need to compare price and overall package. My rag top is the ultimate GT, for me. If the 'cat handles like a bull, no thanks.

I'm sure they will - until they languish on lots for 18 months like it's thinner, older brother.

The only way I'd buy a Hellcat is if it lived up to the concept.

Gutted, aluminum/magnesium/composite, No AC optional, and other weight reduction mods.
Live axle with 4th gear aimed at the trap speeds. Suspension aimed at drag racing. 15" rear rim clearance.

THEN it would would be worth more than $60k. It would be truly Old School Hemi Drag style. Nostalgia with the ET's to back it's badging.

A heavy car with modern bling and creature comforts just isn't going to get nostalgia crowd.

Does it work? Well, look at the first Viper. Freaking thing didn't even have real windows. The C5 Z06, while it did have AC and a radio, no other options. Both of these sold at a premium price even though they were less sophisticated cars.

And of course, the Z/28, but at this point nobody knows if it will be a success in the showroom like it is on a track.

If its that price, I'm going to consider getting one. I wasn't crazy about the Challenger until the refresh. Now with the new interior I like it. For 60G's, I think for what you are getting its a pretty good deal if that number pans out.

At Callaway, we can't wait to see how the supercharged Callaway Camaro Z-28 SC652 compares to the Hellcat, on the street and at the track.

3900 lb. 652 hp 7.0L Callaway with all the Z-28 goodies vs. 4160 lb. 707 hp 6.2L Dodge.
