This happened to my 2011 Hyundai elantra. Came out one morning to 8 inches of water in the floorboard, I thought for sure it was f'd. Started it and backed it out of the driveway to higher ground once the tailpipe was out of the water. After a bunch of vacuuming and carpet removal, everything was fine. I was absolutely amazed.

The bad thing about flood cars is that the floodwater screws with the electronics and wiring down the road, and you never know when it'll happen. I've seen flood cars catch fire sitting in the driveway a couple of years after being flooded. Insurance companies often total flooded cars, and anyone who buys one it dealing with a real crapshoot.

I don't feel sorry for people who drive their cars into flooded streets, but I do feel for ones who get stuck parked on a flooded street.

The door seals are pretty good, especially if it's brand new. Unless there was already water coming in, I'd climb out the window and hope for the best. Of course, there's no way to close the window once you're out of the car, so it's kind of a catch 22 until the rain stops.

I was parked in my drive when it hit- not far from you. Neighbors front yard became a pool. Luckily, I escaped the flooding.

So sorry you took the hit.

Did you say "climb out the window"? I hope you meant sunroof because I can barely fit a Sonic drink through the window without hitting the window sill!
