My first option fell through. I'd definitely consider leaving Wednesday morning. Count me in

Sorry everyone! I've not abandoned this thread. Had some family in the hospital over the weekend. I'll update this ASAP!

Thoughts are with you and your family. Let's try to get a gathering time and place started. I'm up for leaving anytime, early may better to beat some commuter traffic plus get us there earlier in the evening.

I will post a map and such today. sorry folks have been at work and dealing with some family stuff.

for now...I will be at the Lowes in catonsville just off 695 at 0710 on Wednesday morning for those of you wanting to meet there. that should put us in Frederick MD right around 8 or a bit before. it is about a 3 hour drive to harrisonburg va.

figure a stop for lunch in either christiansburg va around 1 pm. there is a cracker barrel right off I 81 that is easy to get to as well as a ruby Tuesday if memory serves. plenty of gas stations there as well.

I will get something better than this today posted up. I will likely post a glympse link here for GPS tracking the day we leave so those of you meeting us will know when and where we are in real time.

Alright folks...If you wouldn't mind to let us know when / where you're meeting us, that will ensure we don't leave anyone behind. I think we'll get into Bowling Green around 8 or so. I know that's late, but unfortunately I have to work the night before as do a few other folks so we can't leave super early.

Also, for those of you that don't travel on I81 often, there are generally a LOT of Virginia State Troopers doing speed enforcement. If we're running 80 or better, we're all gonna get tickets. I usually run about 75 or so and haven't ever had an issue. The route takes us on 81S all the way through VA. It's a bit longer than cutting across WV on I64, but having just made that drive last weekend, it SUCKS. The mountains slow traffic down and there's not a lot of places to stop if need be.

1. 0710L leave the Lowes in Catonsville, MD. The address is: 5900 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD 21228. It's right off 695. Head to I70 toward Frederick.
2. We'll be in Frederick, MD around 0800L and get on 340 toward Harpers Ferry WV, passing through Berryville, VA.
3. We'll pick up I81S in Winchester VA shortly before 9am.
4. Passing through Harrisonburg VA around 10am.
5. Staunton VA around 1030am.
6. Christiansburg VA for lunch around noon at either Cracker Barrel or Ruby Tuesday. At this point, I believe our entire group is together so I'm not going to put any more times down here since I don't know how long it will take us to eat. If everyone wants to wait another hour before lunch, we can continue southbound to Wytheville, VA. If we don't stop for lunch in Christiansburg, we'll be in Wytheville around 1300L.
7. There are plenty of rest stops on 81 so we can stop when folks need to stretch their legs and such and there are gas stations all over the place on 81. I'd like to keep the stops short so we're not so late getting to KY. If someone's gotta take a potty break, I'm sure we can make that happen!
8. We'll take 81S all the way through VA until we hit I40W toward Knoxville, TN.
9. Through Knoxville toward Nashville on I40W.
10. Google maps says to get off on Exit 258 and then run on up toward Bowling Green.

Jus1Dab...if you folks are meeting us near Staunton I'll find a gas station or rest stop on 81S for us to meet at. I think this one will work...http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/map-ra-fairfield.asp If so, that will be around 1030am.

Did I miss anyone? Anyone else need a confirmed meeting point / time?

PLEASE post here to let us know where you're meeting us so we don't leave anyone behind!!

This looks awesome, thanks so much for writing this up. I'll be leaving from Mount Airy, MD just east of Frederick. There are a couple of rest stops on I70 that I can watch the road to see when a group of Camaros pass. Timings look great for me!
