This just started in the past few months. I am at 26k miles.
I have the same noise now also, 2ss/rs with 5k miles on it. When I back out of my garage, I hear a "thump thump" noise when backing up. I just had the seals/diff fluid changed under warranty 1k miles ago. Problem is with my dealer its always "GM knows its an issue, but does not have a fix at this time". I have had an inout shaft rattle while accelerating since day 1, foreman road along and noticed it within the first 5 seconds, the next day they tell me it can't be fixed. About done messing with it

I had this same problem and changing the rear end diff. fluid and adding some type of GM additive corrected the grinding issue.

This fluid includes a limited - slip additive. My dealer said Im the first customer that has complained of the problem.I still hear grinding noise, I dont blame the dealer just dont think GM has found a cure.

I used this part number (8886862624) today after experiencing the same issue after putting a 3.27 Camaro Diff in my G8.
The oil is for a Vette and so far so good.

Great advice after reading through all these posts.

Just took mine to the dealer yesterday and dropped it off. Called me today and said they could not get it to make any noise. They are going to keep it another night and try again tomorrow. Apparently the TSB listed in this thread does not show up for my VIN #.

I also have the same issue on my 2013 ss automatic. I thought it sounded like a brakes. Almost like the E/brake was left on. That type of sound. Yes first thing in the morning and backing out of the driveway

I had this happen when there was no fluid. Maybe you are running low and need to replace it?
