Yeah it does suck. On a positive note the machine shop is making progress on the new block and I'll be ordering pistons and rods soon.

FWIW, my Huron twin turbo car can't run any more than 12 degrees under boost without some KR creeping in. This is on 93 pump gas. But, I'll trade timing for boost any day.

What level of boost do you start seeing knock?

Well I hope you go to a different tuner on the new engine.

So was it 21 degrees or 15 degrees? Also, did your tuner know you flashed your FPCM after you had it tuned?? Did you change anything else after the tune?

Like other people have said, usually a poor tune shows itself with chipped/broken pistons or popped head gaskets, not rods through blocks.

Did you pay for trans tuning?

[I realize the OP just wants to move on from this and focus on his new build, but I feel like the same thing could occur if he doesnt figure out exactly what went wrong. Communication with your tuner is key]

Tuner said it has no more then 15 degrees but FrankT looked at my tune and said it had 21. I did tell the tuner I had DSX flashed my FPCM to stop the drop in fuel pressure. Redflag right there that I had to send it off to get it flashed elsewhere. Before it was dropping to 50 from 58 psi. Afterwards it held steady at 58+ The tune wasnt touched after getting it back from the tuner. Yes I will not be going back to the same tuner.

The fpcm can be flashed with hptuners, so if your tuner didn't know how too do that then he/she is not up to date on hptuners capabilities.

Ok hold on.

1. Did Frank see a log file?

2. The stock fpcm commands 58psi at idle and slopes down to 48psi (iabout) by redline. So your fuel pump was capable of supplying the commanded fuel pressure. The ZL1 fpcm tune file tells it to hold 58psi all the way to redline, instead of dropping off to 48. That is probably why your tuner didnt “waste” a credit on flashing the fpcm. You didnt need it. What size injectors do you have? My buddy ran ID1300x2s with a zl1 pump and a bap (no fpcm flash) on E85 upto 830whp. The fuel pressure dropped to 48psi AS COMMANDED and it Didnt matter cause his IDC was 67%.

Anyway, carry on…. GLW your project.

1000 cc FIC injectors. ZL1 pump and a BAP. I dont think my inj duty cycle was bad. Tuner only mentioned the FP dropping. He was concerned about that but never mentioned if I was running out of injectors. Anyways I appreciate all the input from everyone. I'm just ready to get it all back together and running soon.

As for the tuning part. Always tune them with the MAP, then add the MAF if you want (I leave SD personally) It does make a difference.
