Long time lover, first time owner--Couple questions
So I have always been a lover of Muscle cars and especially Camaro's. From my Uncle and his rebuilt '69 Camaro that I helped him rebuild in the late 80's early 90's, to the the 2002 Pontiac Trans AM GT WS6 I owned, and then the announcement in 2008 for the NEW Camaro line... I was in love, and vowed to own one once they came out. Long story short, marital issues and financial issues prevented me from owning one when they were first released, and many years after until 2 weeks ago. Been saving for a ZL1, but in the mean time my new wife found a 2013 V6 Variant, Ashen Gray, 29,000 Original miles, white racing stripes, tap shift, with what appears to be custom Wheels and tires (245/45ZR20's , are these stock or no?)and Halo lights, 1 owner, a young girl who apparently did not drive it much. No accidents, clean EVERYWHERE! The kicker? Listed for $16,900, and with a "title in hand trade in of my wifes corolla, out the door, tax, title, license, we paid $11,698 CASH, and the wife said we can keep saving for the ZL1! She's a keeper, hahaha.
While that was a long intro for these questions, my first ACTUAL question is about the Halo lights. Are / were they standard equipment for these model years, or is that an aftermarket add on? Second question is about the wheels and whether or not that tire size is stock or not. Everything I have seen refers to 18" tires, but I know that certain packages can have certain differences. Third and final for now, where is the best place for aftermarket components? I wanted to possibly replace the Shift Lever, but not certain how easy or possible that is with the Automatic vs. Manual (mine is auto of course), and I wanted to change out the housing around the shift lever, as something cool colored, like a blacked out, or trimmed piece would be awesome as well. Many thanks in advance, and I hope I followed the rules properly, as I didn't want my first post to be in the wrong areas! Glad to be a part of the Camaro community, it seems great around here! |

Halos are factory option for the RS package. When you get a zl1, MGW is what you’ll want for the shifter if you go manual trans.

Congrats on your new ride! Post some pics when you can. Sounds like you have the RS package, which included the HID halo headlights and 20-inch wheels. If you have a leather interior, you probably have the 2LT package, which has other goodies like 4-pack gauges, HUD display, etc.
Welcome to the Camaro family!

The RS package came with 20x8" wheels front, 20x9" wheels rear, with 245/45 tires front and 275/40 tires rear.

Some of the V6 models come with the 19" rims and run without the MPH limiter. I found this out by accident, actually, as I was trying to peg my 2014 V6 LT1 auto at the 118 mph limit and hit over 120 before noticing it. Checked the tires and some online specs and was pleasantly surprised.
I don't know how to determine which 6-cylinder models run the bigger tires without the limiter, though. |

RS package on the V6 would get halos and 20" rims. Trunk and grill should have a red RS badge. If not, then someone removed the badges or just added the headlights and rims. RS package was available on all GEN 5 Camaros except the entry level LS trimmed. On the V8, RS included halos, 20" Midnight Silver rims, painted roof ditch moldings and smoked tail lights. Guessing it was the same for the V6. V8s did not have a RS badge. Just an SS badge. White for non-RS and red for RS.

Welcome to our huge family of crazy mod addicted Camaro owners!! You will enjoy the ride as you enjoy YOUR ride there. Good luck with your new Camaro. As for aftermarket parts for the car I get a lot from Phastek Performance, and you can get custom colored interior and underhood pieces from RPI Designs, but it takes some time to get them, due to COVID,as they have a massive backlog of orders for stuff. It took me 13 weeks to get my custom CF hydro dipped front splitter, but when I did get it, it was worth the wait. Have ordered from them several times before the COVID stuff happened. Good luck and happy modding..

Welcome. My first camaro as well. I have had 4 mustangs, a G8 GT, 14 SS and other crap... very nice car so far. Absolutely save for a ZL1 my Dad had a 19 ZL1 and wow what a beast. Phastek like mentioned above has probably the best selection of aftermarket parts. I usually only keep cars for 2 years so I'm fighting the urge right now.
