Pleasantly Surprised

Last night I decided to take out the Camaro to run a few errands, and after leaving the grocery store, a white Mazda with a younger kid (maybe 16-18) pulls up next to me at a light and gives me the thumbs up. So, I return the gesture and face the light. Here's the awesome part, the kid rolls down the window and as I look back over at him, he asks "Is that a 1LE?". I say yes and have a nice quick chat and find out that he loves 5th gens (obviously enough to be able to identify a 1LE at night) and supposedly knows the owner of the other red 1LE I have also seen scooting around town. It's awesome to see there is still an interest in these cars here in Vegas, especially from younger people since there is a HUGE amount of Mopar fans/drivers here. 4 out of 5 higher performance/horsepower cars here in Vegas tend to be Chargers or Challengers. Faith in humanity has been slightly restored.

The 5th generation are very well known. A soon to be classic I suspect. You do not have tinted glass? Mine is so heavy that no one can see me and I, at night, have a hard time seeing out. To the point that on a rainy night I sometimes have to lower a window while making a turn just to be sure that I am turning into the correct lane.

Tint is on the to-do list. It was originally a southern California car, so the previous owner followed the rules there and didn't the side windows.

Great story! I suspect many 1LE owners have a few.

Tint in Vegas would be a great idea, as it is in Northern Nevada, too.

Mine came from Long Beach where I suspect that people there drive their sunglasses. I suppose too that because of the extra heavy tint mine must be 35% range.

I really do need to get tint. I don't particularly like driving the Camaro with my sunglasses since the polarized lenses make the hud wash out and hard to see.

I only buy non-polarized sunglasses anymore because of the Camaro for that reason.

My wife had her 14 SS Sedan for a short time and I always wear my polorized glasses. So I ask my wife do you have your HUD turned off? Shes like no... I pull my glasses down and I'm like oh there it is. Lol

LOL. So true. I thought mine was turned down or broken or something the first time I wore polarized lenses. It's a huge difference in brightness when wearing polarized lenses.

Best most optically clear non polarized sun glass's are Dow Corning Serengeti Drivers . As far as tint 3M ceramic is the sweet spot for quality, clear vision and a fair price . Polarized glass's and tint make for strange rainbow distortions .
