That won't solve the problem, unless he can find some 4:30's so the 1LE can match the acceleration of an SS with 3:91's...

Actually 1st and 2nd with the 3.45 are about the same overall ratio as a 1LE with 3.91. 3rd and fourth will kick ass in the 1LE.
Yes, an SS will have more acceleration with the stock 1, 2 and a 3.91 but after that you have to be left wondering what just passed you.

The 1LE is a road course car and geared accordingly.
I know that 1st and 2nd in the 1LE are about equal to 3:45's in the SS because of the different trans ratios. That's why I replied to the poster thinking that 3:91's in the 1LE would be equivalent to 3:91's in the SS.

I had it done 2 years ago and trust me it is a mod that is worth it. My problem is the dealer said they could recalibrate my speedo after they did the gears but come to find out they couldn't do it. I had been driving for 2 years with a speedo that showed I was going about 10MPH faster than I actually was. I called at least 10 places and no one could do the work, I finally called the guy that did the tune for me and he said he could do it. This was Steve @ RDP Motorsports, great guy and he knows his stuff for sure. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get to his shop and 5 minutes to re-calibrate my speedo....then 2 1/2 hours back home but now it's done and I don't have to think about it any more. I wonder how many extra miles my odometer shows that I didn't actually drive?

I think its just so sad that the dealership knows so little about what they sell. I mean you would think someone who becomes a service tech at any dealership would at least know what gears are when you ask. Not to mention the fact that it is on their website and nobody in the entire service department of 4 different dealerships even knew they sold gears.

They'd probably know what was going on, and might be cheaper as well.
