The Impala and Equinox are on the Consolidated line and as such, have no bearing on the Camaros VIN sequencing. Camaro is on the Flex line with the Buick Regal and soon, the Cadillac XTS.

i am no expert but i need to comment on 2 things.... remember i may be 100% wrong, but i think im correct.

1. Everyone commenting they might be #1 cuz they ordered SIM.... Mike works in the body shop... he sees ZL1's before paint. hence him saying they were ALL silver....

2. 2012 VIN's are not mixed with other carlines, brands, etc. all Camaro VIN's are sequential... the last 8 of your VIN are what tells you year, retail/pre-production, and sequence number. example A9100001 is the 1st 2010 Retail Production camaro off the line (A=2010, 9=Retail, 1=1st Production run, 00001=sequence 1) C9265777 is the 165,777th 2012 (C=2012,9=regular production, 2=2nd production run (switched from 1 to 2 after 99,999) 65777= 65,777 in run 2.). even tho Oshawa builds Regals on the same line as well camaro vin's are sequential and unique to the camaro car line. with that said special editions (ie ZL1) are not sequenced any different.

1. Correct. Mike sees them when they are raw steel so all he see are "silver" camaros. His comment has nothing to do with what colors were built today.

2. 10th digit is the model year, 11th digit is the plant and remaining 6 digits are the sequence numbers. Sequences are reset to 100001 for each model at the beginning of each model year.

Can someone explain to me what this means? Since I am still waiting to place my order.

"As the start of retail production occurs this week, the third exclusive cycle for dealers to submit orders for the 2012 Camaro ZL1 starts this Thursday, January 26, 2012"

This means that dealers who have ZL1 allocations but have not submitted orders yet (since it wouldn't have been recognized by GM anyway) can begin ordering them today if their allocation became open.

I.E. Dealer was told he would get 4 ZL1s. In the first round of ordering he coudl order 2. In the second round of ordering he could order 0, in this round of ordering he could be able to order 1, 2, or 0

Correct except for cars they use to test with, CTF cars and cars such as Hendricks carbon flash metallic ZL1 which will be sequenced as 000069.

If he's like me, the dealer wouldn't take my order until they were allowed to place their allocation.
