gear ratio change and reaction time

Does changing the gear ratio have a big affect on your reaction time? I have the stock 3.27 gears in my auto, and have gotten my reaction time down pretty good. If I switch to 3.91 gears, and keep everything the same with regards to leaving on the tree, will it speed me up enough to where I need to make big changes to my R.T?

thanks ttshovel. I put a lot of time in trying to get my reaction time good and I thought that switching to 3.91 gears would make me get out of the hole/off the line quicker causing me to red light a lot.

Tim Erl had some good comments on reaction times over the years. Takes a fair amount of practice to get into the .0x with our cars.

The gear would help the 60 ft and the overall run though.

Ultimately you are the holder of a good reaction time. You can stage a little deeper to shave sometime. i’ve been bracket racing for 23yrs and how a bracket racer stages it’s everything. I know one extra bump i’ll shave a 1/100. Also gearing will change how the car reacts. all things equal , staging , reaction etc your time will be different day between 3.73 and 4.10
