AliExpress side markers

In case any of you are looking at doing the Ali express side markers because they’re super cheap, I bought two sets and not what I expected. While they look OK they’re not exactly what I want. I wanted an edge to edge laser looking affect, this was not it.

This is crap, pardon my French.

I bought JW Motorsports markers for $90 and they look way better and have lasted so far. Diode Dynamics markers are expensive, but they also look pretty good.

And then there is the other angle of how far one's willing to go to support American vendors. I for one will not buy anything from aliexpress, regardless of the price, I'd rather go without those things if I can't afford them.

These were supposed to replace my current JW Motorsports markers. One bank went out on the passenger side back marker. I was hopeful these would match the sellers posted pictures. I already am past warranty and have signed up for when the next batch becomes available. But again, was hoping these would be a good backup set.

The cheap ones melt and deform pretty fast. These Ebay ones only lasted a few weeks in the summer heat.

Yeah, I hear you.

My old Diode Dynamics kit did the same to me twice on the driver side, which is surprising given its price... strange how hardly any company gets such a simple component right.

No, not at all. I dont mind them but if I compare them to what I have now its not the same. Are you interested in a set? I bought two full sets.

Thinking about this some more, I think I know why these go out as often as they do. On the back the housing where the plug inserts, it dont seal very well. I am thinking of adding in some kind of grease around the O-ring to assist it in sealing better or seeing if there is a thicker O-ring.

Keep us updated if you think you found a trick. I tossed my JW’s after the right rear went out 3 times within a year. I didn’t go with Diode Dynamics because they seem to have some issues as well. The Amazon ones I got look like yours, not so good but they haven’t burnt out.
