Front License Plate Delete

Hi,
I'm posting this because I️ couldn't find it on the forum. This is for those of us that don't require a front license, but the dealer installed the front license plate mount.

Steps:
  1. remove the license plate frame and placard
  2. dremel the heads off of the four aluminum rivets
  3. pull frame to expose the double-sided taped pads
  4. to loosen the adhesive, spray the pads with a water and vinegar mix
  5. pull the frame away from the bumper
  6. wash and wax bumper
  7. use the vinegar and water mixture to remove the remaining adhesive
  8. plug the four holes with plugs from bumperplugs.com

I am so glad my state has no front plate requirement. Looks better with the plugs, but it would still piss me off with the holes in the bumper.

Pa has no front plate requirement.. But it appears the dealership burned him with the holder anyhow...I'm not sure why they wouldn't have asked before performing such a permanent, non required task.. Too late now..

Front plate is required in Cali but the three different dealers that I have bought brand new cars from; BRZ, LT1, and ZLE did not install the front plate. They just let me know the mount is in the trunk.

Unfortunately, for the facelift models, if you have a non-V8 or LT1, the OEM front plate mount drills into the front bumper.

The SS and ZL1 front ones don't require drilling. They have clips that grip onto the grille. They even tell you to remove the ZL1 front plate when you drive it on a track to maximize cooling.

My province requires a front plate, but at least I could get a plate that matches the paint fairly well so it's not the worst.

Yea I️ bought the car in NJ, which has a front plate requirement. I️ don't usually have to worry about this but I️ couldn't find the car I️ wanted anywhere in PA.
