Zl1 hood

Hey guys I was thinking about buying the zl1 hood. I love the way it looks.I know it's not going to do anything for my car but I want it anyway question is my car is a every day driver and I was wondering is the hood all weather or do u need to take it off when it rains or snows? The hood goes for 1000$. What do u guys think?

I'm sure rain won't cause any major problems, however, snow build up of sitting outside might be an issue... I would talk to someone who has heat extractors already and get input from them. I am also looking at getting the ZL1 style hood as I like the style of the heat extractors vs other hoods (the VIS hood is nice also tho).

Two things. A) The OEM ZL1 hood will not fit the current camaro models. This is the fbodfather's words, not mine. He said that neither the hood nor the front bumper will fit our cars. B) The hood more than likely has a drainage system under it to protect the engine from water.

Yes it should drain. At least I would hope so lol. I think it should also protect from large debris from falling in like leaves.

Also $1000 for a new hood? That include paint? and maybe an HJ?
How much would it cost to buy someone's old hood or even a new one unpainted and see if a body shop can customize it for you? I would think that would be a little less than $1000. Not sure though.

I guess you can ask the guys at Suncoast Creations if this would be a problem since they've com up with their own version of the ZL1 hood
http://suncoastcreations.com/a-che-cam-4/21023.html

I personally would like the idea of an insert to my existing hood rather than buying a new hood

One third of the ZL1 was redesigned from the SS it was based from. The front fascia/splitter/Hood are not interchangeable with the current SS.
