Dec 18th SMS Cars, Coffee, Chile, and Speed (Track Day)!

Another SMS Cars, Coffee, Chile, and Speed (Track Day) on the 18th of December.

This is the last "cheap" track day. Starting in January, the word is that it goes to $50 per track day, unless you become a Driver's Club member. More information on this will be posted at http://www.sandiamotorsports.com/ or http://www.sandia-speedway.com/

Because it's getting colder, the time will be between 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

We'll meet up at Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town at 9:30 AM and caravan out to the track.

Details on the Track Day are at http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106280

I hope to see you all there!

I think it's still a go for tomorrow. The weather is supposed to clear today and it'll warm up tomorrow. If things change, I'll let everyone know. Keep checking back to this post.

I am with you all in spirit. Even if my car were finished, I don't think I could get it out of the driveway with all this snow. We've got the diff ready to go in, just waiting for some paint to dry. Have fun for me!!!

Tragedy Amok!

Poor Damian

We left Hotel Albuquerque at 10:05 AM to head for the track. Just before Coors, I heard back from Jim Guthrie. He said the Cars and Coffee was cancelled.

Since I was in the lead, I turned off onto the Coors Frontage Road and on into Walmart. As I parked and was getting out, Wham!

Damian was pulling in next to me (right turn) and got side swiped by a guy speeding into the parking lot (and trying to pull around him on the right).

Not a good day all around...

First, only Howard, Damian and I showed up. We waited as long as we could and finally headed out. Then this happens.

The bummer is that this would've been Damian's first track day. He's been going to the CCNM meetings and was excited to join us in some of the normal fun we have. I feel bad for him.

I'm not sure what happened to Howard. He didn't follow us off of Coors. I think he may have gone all the way to the track. I hope not.

Anyway, Damian and the guy traded info and hopefully things work out.

Lessons learned here is: be very careful in Walmart parking lots!

Let's try to make it up to Damian and get his spirits back up again!

Man !!!!!!!!! that just sucks big time I didn't see you all exit I 40 I just assummed I was way behind in my super fast work truck, I did go to the track and they were open, the usuall Mazda's were out on the track, didn't see any other C-5 ers or CCNM members, stayed about a 1/2 hour.

Really sorry to hear about Damian's car, hope the other driver had insurance and all though I'm sure he will probably get a bit screwed since its an older car, Glad you were there with him Curt !

Just one more reason not to shop at Wallmart !!

OUCH!!! I'm so sorry Damian.:( I came on here hoping to see that everyone had another fun day at the track. Anything I can do to help let me know. We will make it up to you if we can coerce you to join us again next time.

That really sucks, I hate to see stuff like this! Lets get something going so we can get him back on the road. I wasnt there but Id be willing to bet the whip Curt and Jim Guthrie have already offered him a killer deal to get things on his car straitened out (GOOD PEOPLE)!!! Man I am diggin the hood and rims on that car as well, looks like it means busines (Im wondering what is under that hood)? Keep your head up Damion, there is no way the Southwest C5 gang will allow your ride to not hit the road in grand fashion again soon.
