If dealer can't sort it out... forget about your wife and buy an exotic.

It is a heavier car but he never said weight was a problem. I suggest it because of the requirements he listed;

"I like american, but its not a requirement.
I like V8s
I like torque
I like cars that look unique, stand out from the rest.
I like sound.
I like cars that handle WELL
Ideally under 100k or I suffer the pain from my wife."

RCF Track model will probably be a very rare exotic type car also.

I bet it's not ordinary to drive though. Probably awesome! That would be my pick if I didn't have an American V8. That car is a sleeper. That or as someone mentioned the Lexus RC-F or C63S. One of those 3.

I was never into the sleeper thing.

From what he says he would like to have...it points to only one car...a Chevy!

I would rather have a troublesome Chevy than any other American made V8 car. I've had my fill of other American manufacturer's answers to Chevy's dominance in the market and all but a few fell way short.

I agree, thats why I tried 4 times.

But honestly, it's so frustrating to have a car that you pay $70k for and it just falls on its face every time I put the throttle down.

Best advice I can give you....find the best rated dealer within a 250 mile radius...and take it there...

There are actually like 2-3 TSB's out for the ZL1's right now...so it would pay to have them all checked..

Agreed, Bay Area dealers really suck. My Bluetooth mic is basically unusable and boardwalk Chevy point blank told me they don’t want to fix the issue even thought they acknowledge that it is broken. There’s no way I’d want them touching my engine.
And my vote is for the C63..

I'm sorry to hear that. Really sucks. I've had all GM vehicles ('99 Trans Am, '00 WS6, '05 CTS-V, '10 Camaro SS & now '19 ZLE) and never had any engine problems...just broken parts from adding power and drag racing

I hate to call out a dealer by name but Boardwalk Chevrolet is one of the dealers that blew me off.

The best dealership in the bay area is Abel Chevrolet. I respect those guys, however, unfortunately, every time I'd go there with my Z06, the problem would vanish -- no joke. Maybe because it was a long drive, or the heat or I don't know what. If I'm unable to reproduce the issue for them, then they have little to go on and there was no recall at that time.

Abel is the dealership I plan to go to with this recall in hand.

I know you don't want a GM, but I have to ask. Have you ever considered a C6 ZR1? Reason I bring up that particular car is 1. It's fast (like you want) 2. It handles (like you want) 3. It's American (like you prefer). The LS9 engine is also so overbuilt, I can't imagine it having any sort of problems in stock form. In my opinion, it's still the best engine GM has ever made. The amount of power and abuse that thing can take is extraordinary. And if quality control is a concern, they are hand made in Detroit, Michigan by 1 guy, who puts his plaque with his name on the engine upon completion. Not on an assembly line from Mexico (like the Hellcat engine). A lot of Hellcat engines have been known to burn oil as well, which I think is due to a quality control issue more so than a design issue. I can't imagine a performance engine that could minimize quality control issues like a hand built LS right here in the good ol' U.S.A.

Just food for thought. That would be my choice, but I really do wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose. After dealing with that, you deserve to finally have some fun.

Btw, I see you had a 2013 GT500. I had a 2014. That engine was also hand assembled by one person, start to finish right here in the states. I forgot who made mine, the name John Divo comes to mind.

I have thought long and hard about the LS9. It's a great option.
The silly things that drag it down for me (and I do mean silly).
1. They are still pricey when compared to a ZL1 or Z06. I think its because people see them as a collector car?
2. Interior is quite a step down.
3. No Android Auto (I did say silly but I'm pretty well spoiled by Android Auto now).
4. I was always enamored by the looks of the C6 Z06 and ZR1 until the C7 Z06 came out and now I just feel like they look so dated.

If I wasn't so picky, I do agree this would be a great choice -- the car is still excellent despite being 10 years old.

They are somewhat pricey, but they are about half the price they were when new. And most owners keep them as garage queens, so odds of getting a mint specimen are pretty good. I get the interior thing, but every time I see pictures I think meh. Then in person, it seems much nicer than pictures let on. Definitely much more interior room than the new C7's. They seem to be aging better than the C7's to, IMHO.

Good luck with whatever you choose. I hope the next toy is rock solid!

I agree. As much as I love the C6 to me it looks dated now. Imagine when the mid engine ones come out it will look really dated then.
