I've sat in both, and rode shot gun on a 5.0 test drive.

Don't know which is faster (with me being the driver).. But I think I would rather have the 5.0..

But I don't deny the Camaro is a very sexy car.

Anyone who isn't genuinely impressed by what Ford has done with the Stang is way out in left field. That being said, I still choose the camaro. For me, the LS3 is where the potential is at. The 5.0 is one hell of a motor, but give me 16 valves and pushrods and an engine you can mod the heck out of for cheap any day.

I have not driven the 2011 stang but I have driven the 2010 alot. I know the 2011 has basically the same engine performance of the LS3 so that certainly makes the lighter, lower geared stang quicker off the line.

That said, when your just driving the camaro and the stang, I give the camaro a huge advantage, feels and sounds much more solid. Takes rough roads MUCH better, especially cornering as far as solid feel and control.

At high speed, +100 mph, the camaro feels MUCH more solid to me, likely the added weight.

Looks, not even a comparision.

This drone you talk about, I have a hard time believing that a factory L99 had anything that you could call drone. My L99 was so quiet it was on the boring side as far as sound, even when you got in it. I installed an SLP axle back exhaust on mine and then there was a DRAMATIC drone, changed to a cat back corsa exhaust and no drone at all, I do not understand what your talking about with drone. The factory camaro is one of the quietest cars I have driven, to quiet in my opinion.

Plus, I spend $3500 in add ons and am pushing 500 crank HP. What would it cost to get a stang to that level? What does a GT500 cost these days, and in the end, you still have a stang on the outside and you need a supercharger to get it to 500 HP. Put a supercharger and some add ons on an L99 or LS3 and its not hard to get 550 rwhp in the L99 and pushing 600 in the LS3 and for pretty much the same price as a stock GT500.......

While I agree with many of your comments, others are just off the wall from what I have seen driving the stang. Unless the 2011 is totally different as far as handling, which I do not believe it is, I do not see it as being anything near an "All Around" better car then the camaro, in fact I would say just the opposite.

Oh you'd be surprised. I had one for a year and that thing was an attention magnet. It got so much attention that at times, I hated it because I just wanted to get from point A to B without being stared at or asked to race (no joke dude). It was a black convertible with a red interior and some nice rims, but it was still a Mustang. I really like the Camaro a lot more though and the attention grab is just right.

OP I commend you for having the guts and open mind that created this post.

The Mustang 5.0 is a 2011 by way. I made the same comparison with the 2011 Mustang 5.0 and the 2011 SS. I went a bit further.

I chose and bought the Camaro which has a number of built in advantages over the Mustang. I am not knocking the Mustang. It is much improved. Just not what I wanted.

And the 5.0 pretty much hits the 412 target. It does not make 430 at the flywheel. The Mustang is lighter than the Camaro and may have a slightly more efficient drive train including lighter wheels and tires, and lower gearing.

If you start modding there is no performance difference.

So buy the Mustang if you like it.

BTW nice pics.

i remember seeing the 2006 camaro concept and saying "wow, i have to have one of those!"

What are you talking about BumbleBee was the best actor in the movie. He made us laugh he made us cry he made us cheer. Even though he couldnt talked expect using XM radio he was hands down the best actor of the year for all of us. Our car is very special becuase of BumbleBee

And also Our car is going to be in another movie called Jinn the car is called the FireBreather Camaro Custom design. The Director was going to use a Mustang in the begaining when he was writing out the script but he decided to go with a Camaro but made it custom to the movie.

So overall our car is special it has enough power to make us happy and it looks one of a kind. And when 2012 happens the end of the world at least we was happy driving around in a very special car.

In previous years I would have agreed, you used to be able to buy a mustang for 5k cheaper than a camaro and go faster but now that they are the same price id take a camaro any day of the week over a "ME TOO" mustang. (oh thats right, I did. I work in a ford dealer) The camaro is much sexier who cares if its a little slower unmodded.
once you tinker with them both its gona come down to the driver. There is just nothing arousing about the mustang to me.
btw, does anybody else stare at their camaro after they park until the lights go off? It feels like im tucking it in.
