Ok, i guess i am thinking I should get more stuff. There is nothing for text messages at all. I need to find another camaro owner here on island and give me a class or go back to my salesman. I appreciate everyone's input

AA does all txt message functionality through voice commands. If you get a message, it will pop up and give you an option to read it...but you won't actually see it.

Google the voice commands for Google Now/Android Auto. Will give you an idea of what you can do. Personally I like AA's ability to dictate a txt msg but prefer the myLink Text Message screen to view/read them.

I believe if you are using the Samsung Messaging app on your phone your texts will also not show in AA (that has been my experience). The car still sees an incoming text, so I have the car read the text to me with the steering wheel "Ok" button and then I use voice to reply back to the message via AA.

It has nothing to do in particular with any txt msg app you are using, Google does not allow you to view txts (at least while driving). But myLink will. I do the exact same as you do when I use it, hit "OK" on the popup in the DIC, then reply using AA.


2017 SS, note you will need to do a long press (3 secs) on the voice command button on the steering wheel to access AA voice commands. A short press will only use myLink's commands.

If your using any functions of the android auto then it is in the right mode. Although if nothing works or it does not detect your phone then you would change it from charging to I want to say MIDI but not in my car to see the different modes.

After a year of having my gen6 i just finally stumbled upon the blutooth setting on my phone. Only when your connected will it allow you to turn on all options shown. Now everything works, doh!

I want to thank everyone. For some reason I thought I would get icons on my screen with android auto. I watched numerous you tube videos and figured it out this morning. Only thing I didn't care for is Google play. I usually play music with Samsung music. I will figure Google play out and just transfer my downloaded music to play on that app.

Is there a certain update topic number have had my car at dealer 3 times for AA update and they can't figure it out. Maybe dealer just sucks here

If Chevy (Dealer) has completed your update, it (AA) should be working. BUT..let's look at your phone first.

If connected via USB & no workie, try a different cable, even if you think its new..I had one that was NEW not work...

Have you downloaded the AA App? You don't have to open and set it up, it gets annoying but it need to at least be on there..


Do you have the Google Home App and the Google Nav Apps installed..I believe both need to be installed. I had a recent phone swap and my AA was not doing it's normal connect process, and I had ended up pulling one of these off Google Play Store and then everything was back to normal.

Otherwise, maybe try another phone, meet with someone who's AA & phone combo is working and check your system at least for functionality..
