Google Maps starting showing Waze warnings a short time after Google acquired Waze. Bloomberg did a piece on it in August but I remember receiving updates provided by the Waze earlier than August.

I read where Waze is now AA compatible. It still doesn't show up in my list of available apps. Is it just part of google maps now?
If not, is there a way to get it to recognize waze?

No Waze is still not AA compatible...yet. Google recently enabled the backend of AA to allow other apps besides Google Maps to be used (in preparation for Waze support).

It is AMAZING how little news or online details there are about the AA update with WAZE...

It is now overdue from their projected Q1 release and have not updated the masses on the status...as if they owe us an explanation anyway.right?

I am just burned out on the process I go thru plugging in my phone, waiting for AA to load, tasking the screen to open Waze, then wait for Waze to load then getting my route set..I plug in and out about 10 times a day...ughh

Q1 ends March 31st for most company cycles. But I'm right there with you.

Apparently beta testing started this month. Now the question is how long of a cycle are they planning before official release.

Well, it may just be something that was changed on the S8 either by Samsung or google, but google maps _FINALLY_ conforms to the TTS settings the user selects for speaking directions. No longer do you have to listen to google's robo voice. My AA talks like a British chick all the time now.

Sweet. Will definitely go a long way to dealing with how long google drags it's feet on rolling out any changes to AA.

You must have changed it to English (UK) in TTS right? I was messing with it today but had used maps yet.

Not yet, I use my wireless pad in the car, had to make some modifications to the rubber pad for it to fit, but charges great. I know with the pad on my S6 I would a 10% charge on my 15 minute commute. I will have to try AA and see...I do know the battery in the S8 is great, better than my S6!

Since I had to buy new USB-C cables for my S8+ anyways (coming from S7 edge), I got a USB3 Type-C cable for the car. Now, instead of slowly draining the battery whenever I use AA...my phone is almost fully charged on my commute home from work.
