Replacement Speakers w/ Bose System
Has anyone replaced JUST the speakers in the BOSE based system.
Trying to discover the crossover freq of the front door woofers, so I can upgrade to better 6x9's or just replace them with components or 6x9 woofers.. Anyone replaced the back deck speakers...how the hell did you do it??

No one has replaced the speakers in the front door panels? If so, What speakers have you chosen..my concern is the crossover, is that connection getting a full range signal or is it filtered/X-overed at say 150hz?

Consensus is that replacing just speakers will be a great disappointment.

The back deck speakers... not sure anyone has removed them. Rumor is the rear glass needs to come out first! If you have non-Bose, the nice thing is you can mount speakers to the underside because the holes are there on every car. Everybody I've read here so far has added amplification when changing speakers. There are some things you have to watch out for even if you go that route. First you need to disable the ANC system by disconnecting the door microphones (easy). Second, you should consider remote volume control for any subwoofer because the bose amplifier rolls off the bass to protect the speakers as you turn up the volume (unconfirmed by objective measurements, but I agree it sounds like something along those lines is happening). |
