Brembo calipers on my SS are starting to discolor. Anyone else experience this?

After getting my new wheels I have noticed that the Brembo calipers on my SS are starting to discolor or fade a bit in color. I tried wiping them off, but it didn't do anything. Has anyone experienced this with theirs? I haven't put too much effort into cleaning them, but just seems odd they would discolor, especially with such low miles on my car (3700).

thanks you in advance for any feedback.

Never been to the track. I drive pretty mellow actually. The detailer washes it not me so maybe they do use something, but I don't think so. Just weird. Seemed to happen overnight.

I have this problem - completely gray - Black color is gone.
District Chevy Rep looked at the four calipers and spoke to engineering and said it's cosmetic and won't take care of it.

They said the function is fine... Working with the owner and she is going to try to get new calipers for me.

Had this problem at 2800 miles (last year) - I drive hard, but this shouldn't happen
I have 5010 miles now

degreaser or wheel cleaner will bring them back to life

simple green, dawn soap, Adam's all-purpose cleaner, Adam's green wheel cleaner

i use the green wheel cleaner from adams on my calipers everytime i clean the wheels.

I tried using wheel cleaner and other cleaners on mine today and it didn't work at all. They are gray, but getting a white-ish faded discoloration to them. I have friends at the local GMC dealership in service where i take my cars and I already told him about the calipers. He's going to take a look at them tomorrow and see what he can do. GM should replace them. Yes, they are more for functionality, but if they weren't designed for appearance as well then I don't think they would put "Brembo" on the side of them and make them in a nice finish from the factory.

I'll keep you guys posted. The thing with GM is if enough people complain and records are made about the same problem then GM will create a bulletin and implement a corrective action for it. Let's hope anyways. Fingers crossed!

Sounds like a good excuse to get a rattle can and custom paint your calipers

So no solid answer from my service buddy at the dealer. He agreed they shouldn't look like that with only 3700 miles on the odometer. After calling GM they said they had no reported cases on file as of yet. They documented mine and told him to check back in a month or two as they might have more and a bulletin for it with a solution. I am also waiting for a GM regional rep to call me about another issue so my service rep told me to tell him and he might get it taken care of. My other option he suggested was to have his GM rep come and look at it, but he said he is very thorough and might take a look under the hood and try to relate the caliper issue to the supercharger or something.

So for those of you that have the same issue, let the dealer know and have them document it so they can start getting a solution worked out. I will update on what the GM regional rep says when i speak with him. Pretty disappointed this is happening. Tried using all kinds of stuff and it doesn't help at all. I will report back once I talk to the rep.

I have the same problem.... what i think it is the product they use (i have a detailer as well) when they polish your rims or a spray for tires and when it gets on there and you drive it heat will do that. Mine is a shad of gray with a hint of white. :(

i know others use different products for rim/tire care but for some it happens and others it doesnt...i guess

Good news guys - there might be a documented case for this caliper issue.

I had my dealer get GM to look at this again. They denied me once and said they claimed it to be cosmetic.

I talked to the dealer and she got in touch with the regional rep and they are replacing all four calipers.

The cost is only $142.00 for each caliper - i couldn't believe how cheap they are. I had the parts dept. check it twice.

Props to the Chevy Rep. and my dealer MUZI CHEVROLET in Needham, MA.

That is great news. this is exactly what I need to provide my service rep. Do you have a service contact name I could get so I can have my service rep call them possibly and get the info from them?

Good stuff and I'm stoked that there is still hope.

thank you,

Chris
