Crappy paint on your car?

So before i picked up my car I rear about all the issues everyone has with the paint. I thought mine was pretty good until I got real close to start installing mods.

there are a few paint drops (kind of like a run that didn't run if you know what I mean) right under the wheel well lip, and on the inside corner of my trunk lid. There was also a dime sized gouge in the paint (looks like it was there before paint and was just painted over) on the bottom of my right front fender. This one i would have returned the car to get fixed but I only noticed it because I was installing my slash guards and it was going to cover it anyways.

Also the first time I washed it a couple of paint dingle berries fell off when i was washing the bottom most part of my rocker panels.

Now all of these are not that big of a deal to me since I am not a picky guy and they are all on parts you wouldn't regularly see, but I'm sure this would piss someone else off. Not sure if these defects are on all cars, just the verts or just my car.

Anyone?

My car was built in November 2010, and I have to say it seems to have a very good finish to its paintwork. I have been on this forum for a few months now, and heard several horror stories regarding paint issues, particularly yellow (like mine). I made a point therefore on picking it up, to look at all the nooks and crannies where paint may have been missed, and thankfully all was O.K.
It seems strange these days, with the use of robotic sprayers, that there is such disparity between the finishes of certain cars.

Yep.... paint sucks... especially black. I wouldn't worry too much about the issues you are seeing. You'll be wanting to get the whole car re-painted in 4-5 years anyway due to rockchips. Bite the bullet and embrace it now, and prepare for a full paint-over in a few years.

every car comes with some "birth defects" these days, it's just more aggravating to see it on the cars we choose to detail....

Yes, the paint appears to be thin and soft. Chips easily. I will be repainting when it's paid off. Still love the car though. If you want a "Piano Finish" you will have to pay more than $30-40k.

I've got 5500 miles on my '11, RJT and I hand wash my car and have not seen any unusual paint defects or rock chips. Some of you must drive a lot on gravel roads.

I have dirt in the paint on the roof and hood. I've counted 4 spots. The worst flaw is a clearcoat run on the passenger side rocker panel, near the rear tire. I'm not too concerned about them. At least my body panels have the same shade of white.

With the process that the plant uses to paint these cars there is at least one defect somewhere.

I actually have a spot (about 2mm) that didn't get painted near my back window (on the flat area leading toward the trunk). It adds character.

My paint sucks for sure. After many touch ups and repaints ,I've decided to just live with until the ZL1 comes out. I just hope that the paint improves with that car. I heard they are getting a new paint system up there because the caddies are being built there. I hope this means that the ZL1 will get the same treatment as the caddies.

you can put your bs flag away, my paint is absolutely perfect with no flaws like I said in my original post., and your theory really makes GM look good by saying every New Camaro has defects in the brand new paint.
