Sbe didn't survive...

well the sbe 6.0 didn't survive tuning. We lost crank sync at 8k rpms due to rfi it picked up after changing to brisk plugs. Its still in one piece, just rattles hard

So here's what we're doing. Everything is bought and goes to the machine shop this week. Theyre assembling the shortblock and im doing the rest.

Lsx block (416ci)
K1 crank 4" stroke
Oliver billet rods
Wiseco k448x7 pistons w/ s718 pins
12.3:1 compression
Frankenstein f310 heads with 1207x springs @1.75 height and inconel exhaust valves
John bewley specd cam- .669/.669, 243/249 on a 116+5
Moroso 20143 oil pan
Ca 625 head studs
Reusing the cid 5.0 16 injector intake
Athena gaskets

Adding a 325pph billet atomizer in charge pipe to try and cool iats/equalize the fueling to the center cylinders. Keeping the gt55 94mm but going to a 1.40 housing from the 1.12.

Should be back in the car and tuning by the end of next month. Love to hear what you guys think! Coming soon, 4 second passes!

FMI question (for my information). Were those brisk plugs non-resistor and you didn't have resistor caps on them, thus the electrical interference from them killed the crank signal?

They were a resistor plug. Looking through all my logs, loss of sync only appears after plug change. The crank signal wires were not shielded on this harness... they are now

Generally speaking, it's no big deal if hall sensor wiring is not shielded, as the square wave output is pretty robust in terms of interference.

Where any of the plug wires running near or parallel with the crank sensor wiring ?

Not worth throwing another SBE into it ?

Agreed. I ran the new shielded wires way out of the way of the wires now. But it definitely showed no issue until plug change. I will be throwing ngk plugs back in it and if it persists a crank trigger will be added

We were running 35psi through the sbe/stock heads deal for a while. I feel to take it to the next level it needed more cubes/compression and most definitely an aftermarket block.

Badass. 17 injectors? Thats crazy. What kind of fuel are you using to run that much compression?

Curious what made you chose the K1 crank. I mean I have one also, so I'm not knocking it, but they seem to be on the less expensive side. With that block and those rods, I was expecting to see a magnum or dragonslayer in there. Being a turbo setup should be much easier on it tho.

I think its amazing what you've done with the sbe ly6, so I would say Good luck, but you dont need it.

Straight m1 for fuel. I needed to draw a line somewhere for expense right now. So whenever this gets refreshed I will put like a magnum ccw in it or a winberg/Bryant.

A lot of people don't know that the dragonslayer and compstar are the same crank. Only difference is one is finish machined in the US vs China. I only know this as callies is 30 min away from me and know several people that work there

Visually the two are quite different, that may or not just be machining. But I've both here, DS in the car and a CS sitting on the shelf.
Even colouration of the two would be different.

Although with the offerings of cheaper CCW's from Dart and Callies, they would be hard to overlook for a build.

Again, this is what im told by people that work there. Never seen the 2 side by side personally. Could be a different finish machining process altogether creating the color change? I'd have to ask them the specifics

I went with Callies Magnum CCW and Ultra rods for added security in my LSX427 TT. Everyone that I know that runs them has had trouble free experiences.

I will definitely with that crank when it comes time to refreshen this one.

On a side note. I got it from the machine shop and 3/4 of the way put together last night. Will just be waiting on pushrods
