Strut Tower Brace
For those of you that have the BMR strut tower brace can you remove the engine cover with it in place. Also can someone explain what the difference is from 2010 to 2011 where this mounts. The selection for the 2010 is very slim where the 2011 have plenty to choose from.
Thanks in advance. Last edited by Camaro2ss2010; 10-13-2019 at 06:47 PM. |

It's not that the choices are that slim, it's just that the other versions for our cars require a lot more work installing them. Not the 15 minute install the 2011 1/2 + guys get.
I was originally going to get the GM version and just get the kit, but I read in a few places that the bracing integrity gets compromised by the spacers. So have held off for now as the cost of the brace and the kit is nearly as much as a sway bar set.

So I should be able to install the STB017 as long as I’m willing to drill the holes?

Just do some research as a few of the kits requires the struts be dropped to drill or access bolts from the bottom. A few also don't. Not sure which though.

early 2011 don't have the factory mounts late 2011 duz. my 2011 is a early build i need a 2010 style. 2010 and early 2011 bars cost the most and a factory gm bar won't just bolt on.

I like the style of that particular one. I will probably end up going with the STB016.

Another option that's out there for the 2010 is the Halo Supercar strut tower brace. It does however require you to lower the struts to drill a couple of holes.

Engine cover can be removed and reinstalled... a bit of a struggle, but its do-able.
I installed it on my 10... had to drill. |
