the first gen z28 only kept its value cause of the 302 motor. second gen z28 was ok. first gen camaro SS and RS kept there value and are high collectibles.

GM might give a warranty for there supercharger but you know its gonna be a low boost car. Aftermarket superchargers offer a 3 year warranty as well.

As for the value it depends on how many they make. that is the real bottom line.

i guess if GM offered a z28 with a supercharger, headers, CAI and some new options I might be interested but i think all these camaros will keep there value. i guess we got to see how many they make in 2010.

3)The SS badges I like I think that the SS should have still been the top Dog like the old days.
4)Cannot be insured by most insurance companies (since when)
5)Is not warrantied(Forget stinking warranties)

if the z/28 is a supercharged v8 with all the cool features then yes i would trade but i hear a lot of you say you want the z/28 to compete with the mustang cobra.. but if you let the z/28 be plain jane with nothing inside as far as eletronics, seat warmers, nav screen, radio, power windows, power seats and just have a big engine, you know that people wouldnt go for that and just buy a cobra that is supercharged and has all the extra cool stuff, the days of just having a big engine, a radio and hard seats are gone, its 2010! lol

It will be easy to get your hands on a SS once the Z/28 comes out because everyone will be trading their SS in for a Z/28.

No they won't, because the Z/28 MSRP is going to be well out of the range for most of the Camaro target audience and you can pretty much guarantee that if they are built in limited numbers, there will be significant dealer markups. Couple that with more stringent financing rules, and the inevitable resale hit the SS version is going to receive as a result of the Z/28 being announced by GM, and you're looking at, generally speaking, few current SS owners trading in.

What, ... are you kidding? Trade my 2SS for a Z/28?? Not on your life!!!

I love my SS and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! I would much rather spend a couple of grand and add on to what I've got rather than to shell out an additional $50 - $60,000 Canadian just to say I have a "Z"

No bose, no GPS, no leather heated seats, no HUD... all crap. Yes, its nice crap and I love my 2SS/RS but if I was making the Z/28, thats how I'd make it.

I would not get rid of my 2SS/RS for a Z/28 as I described. I'd get one TOO, but not in place of.
My thoughts exactly.

A supercharged SS:
1) is aftermarket, it will not be as valuable as a Z/28 to the used market because many people don't trust the reliability of aftermarket, nor the reduced prestige of a lower priced badge
2) has SS badges and appearance - doing up a lower priced model just makes it look like the owner can't afford the higher end model (regardless of whether the mods cost more than the higher end model). How many base BMWs have I seen with M badges stuck on them - makes them look like cheap posers despite their intention.
3) cannot be insured by most insurance companies
4) is not warrantied
I have not had such a laugh since before I ordered my car and started to mod it and got the same comments as yours above.

1 & 2 only apply to above $100k cars and better

3 & 4 are just flat out wrong

By the time the Z/28 comes out, the front seat in my 2SS with be perfectly molded to my arse, it takes too long for that to happen so I wouldn't want to hit the rest button so soon when/if the Z comes out.

this is what im saying.....it makes me so mad that they are gonna make the top dog camaro a z28...i also looked at the ss as the top dog and always wanted a camaro ss since i was a young kid...my father had a 69 SS and although i wasnt alive yet when he had it, his stories and seeing the pictures pretty much seal the deal for my love of the ss...my 2SS is the first new car ive ever bought...and because of that i plan on keeping it for as aslong as i can (hopefully forever)...it just really pisses me off that they are putting the z/28 above it...i hope everyday that the new z/28 turns out to be a TT v6... fuk that.................

i also plan to mod my SS to be better then a z/28. Besides it would be more fun that way aswell as me feeling closer to the car itself
