Loaner cars during recall

My Solstice is down waiting for the parts for the recall to arrive. GM says it will provide free loaners. Sooo ...I have a 2 seat convertible...only right that I should get a 2 seat convertible loaner. Only one GM has is a Vette. When I asked for one, the service manager held his breath till he turned blue. He finally breathed when I said OK something else will work. I mentioned a Camaro instead...I could park my existing Camaro and save miles. He held his breath and turned blue again. Ok, I give up.

You rarely will get a loaner comparable to what you turn in. I got an equinox when my Camaro was in the shop. Now people will come on here and tell you they got ferrari's, Lambos, and bugatti's (i'm exagerating) for loaners while their Camaros were in the shop. I am just happy they give loaners.

Guess it depends on the dealer and what you drop off, mine seems to try and up sell me with a nice loaner. Last time my Silverado was in they put me in a fully loaded Suburban, then when I picked up my truck they told me they would give me 1500 over my payoff on my truck plus all the incentives available at that time to try and put me in that new suburban!

When I had my Cruze in the shop for a different issue, they gave me a Silverado as a loaner

I saw on the news this morning that if the parts are in stock it's 20 minutes to change out the ignition switch.
According to GM, since the cars are shutting off and killing people, we can have a loaner now, even before the parts come in. I don't really need one, but thought I would see what the dealer says when I asked for a "comparable car" Hey, if I could get a Vette, why not?

I believe it is now more than 20 minutes. They have to replace more than thought, and need to make sure the new key fits all the locks

Personally it all depends on your attitude, they by all means can give you the loaner from the movie "The Mask" . You can't go in demanding a Vette, I'm not in the mood to help someone who is demanding something from me in a bad tone and I wouldn't expect someone else to be that actually is in the service industry. Some dealers make you go to a rental car they have on contract with so you may not even get something on the lot.

I really don't understand that some people are complaining that GM is covering their butt at no charge to you and possibly giving you (if needed) a free loaner car to continue your business while free repair is being done. You could be a lot worse off

True, but face it, GM really screwed up on this recall issue.
