Remove Gunk from New Wheels

Got my MMR 017's last night (after a 2+ month wait) and was wondering what was the best way to remove the (protective?) gunk they shipped with? It seems to be a light coating of some kind of viscous grease on the face of the wheels.

Also Simple Green degreaser works well on just about everything. I use it to clean out mu Polished exhaust tips before I polish them. It is citrus based and cleans up a lot of stuff..
