I am looking into 18" wheels that will fit(I've read that they will as long as you don't have the brakes with the rollerskates for weights) Tires should be a little cheaper and give a taller profile for a better ride. Yea, if you could find used, that would be cool. There was someone on the forum selling a set of 18" LT tires and wheels for like $700 and I was corresponding with him up until a few days ago, but I guess he found another buyer. Oh, well, there will be another opportunity.

damn buy a beater four wheel drive truck for the price of some wheels and tires instead. all that salt will kill your new 1le. I lived in Maryland for two years and I could not believe what those salty winters did to two year old cars. the calipers, rotors, frames, were all flaking off. gross.

Summer tires get hard when it's cold out and traction can be very dangerous. It's not smart to drive with them in freezing temperatures.

Used SS rims come up for sale locally all the time on here:
http://www.chicago5thgen.com/ I'm putting snow tires, Pirellis, on my stock rims, I have black rims with my summer tires up front and drag radials on back. I haven't put them on the car yet but soon. I'll post up my thoughts. My car runs 12.3's right now and makes 380rwhp.

I decided to solve this dilema another way. I moved to Phoenix. No more need for winter tires.

Cool, now you'll just have to not spin them so much so you're not buying a new set of rear tires every 6 months. How soon before you drop the order in?

I'm wondering with them driving the 1LE's about 14 miles before delivery to get the hood wrap done etc what are they gonna do when there's snow on the roads and it's well below freezing at the products plant? Would they trailer the cars to get the wrap done, put diff wheels and tires on? I can't believe they'd be driving these cars on snowy/icy roads back and fourth to the location for hood wraps.

I'm considering getting Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires for my 1LE, putting 275/35/20 on front and 315/35/20 on back. I read in one of the forums that some of the ZL1 people have had good results with this combo.

My question is whether the 315 in the rear will cause any problems on the 1LE. Any thoughts? Also, could we put a sticky in the 1LE forum for our tire solutions? Last edited by Cooley; 11-18-2012 at 12:58 PM. Reason: Adding suggestion |

You don't want 315s in the back, wider is wrong direction in the winter. You want to stay 285 or go narrower to 275 all around. The smaller/narrower width puts same weight over a smaller contact patch so the result is a higher pressure distribution, which improves traction in slippery surfaces. Go look at rally cars in the snow, tires look like they are from bikes. Cut through snow easier and provide more traction due to pressure distribution.

Will standard SS rims fit over the Brembos?

Your 1LE has standard SS brakes. So yes the standard SS wheels will fit over the brakes.
FYI you bumped a thread over a year old.
