Test this is a talilight test

So for any one looking to add LED reverse bulbs to there 2019 Camaro we are now testing the the new harness needed to get this done.

There is no heat with this harness, there is no load resister with this harness GM changed the way this lamp works, and we found a way to go around the change..

the only reason why the load resistor was needed for the taillights was due to leaking power from the reverse switch (which is not part of the light assembly). So if no load resistor is needed for the 2019's, it must be because they changed out the part number for that reverse switch/relay.

Why would you need a harness at all? Did they change out from a bulb socket to something proprietary/non-standard?

We know that, yes it still leaking power from the reverse switch, and more then before, and if you add resisters to the bulb, when you put the car in reverse the back up camera stays on when you go back to 1st gear and stays on, you cant get back to the radio or any of the apps, that's what happened to us when testing or 2019 car with the RS package.

So that sounds like they cheaped out with an analog relay since it's being driven by current in the reverse light circuit. Guess it costs too much to just have a digitally controlled relay that can be activated by a BCM module like they do with turn signals. Weird ...and stupid.

Gonna guess and say that you guys are adding your own 12v voltage regulator, which will not function at all in low current/voltage situations, leading to the led's remaining off when not in reverse but on when you are.

(edit) cheaped out on the analog relay that controls the infotainment sensor/camera knowing it's in reverse. Not sure why the system doesn't get the gear from the transmission like everywhere else and control the display of the rear camera based on that rather than some analog relay on the shifter).... must save a couple pennies somehow. Very stupid though.

Other idea would be a relay between the reverse light (and some other nearby source of always live 12v) so that when the reverse lights aren't getting enough power, the relay is active and not sending power (nc) and when it is getting power, there's no voltage drop across the relay so it becomes open and sends the power thru to the reverse lights.

just guessing and bored ... dont really expect you guys to explain how you design your product. Just lamenting the fact that so many decisions with car design are concerned about saving pennies and screwing the consumer vs good design.

Good thinking, this is all pug and play, no need to remove bumper to install, I like the white light a lot more.

so hook up a resistor to it on a switch so we can have back up camera on when we want.

Received the harness from Gen5DIY, installed was easy and fast. No issues at all. Glad to have gotten rid of the yellow reverse lights.
