What trans fluid to use

Lately my M6 feels a little notchy, sometime I feel like I have to force it in a gear at certain speeds. So I was thinking about changing the trans fluid to Synchromax? Or does anyone else have any other suggestions?

1200 miles on the clock.

I was going to change to 4.2 qts of Redline 75w90NS in the trans, but couldn't find any that day.

So i went with 4.2 qts. Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF Dexronn III spec. It did help with the clunky feel a bit on the 2nd to 3rd shifts when cold.

Freekin' smelly stuff, don't get any on your exhaust pipes like i did, the smell lasts awhile...

Thanks, I Have it narrowed down to the M1 or RP, just trying to get everyones opinion. Also my issue isnt when it cold, its smooth as butter when its cold, the problem is when it starts getting warm.

So is the gm dexron vi good? That's what is in the manual and I got 7 quarts from my dealer but haven't put it in yet. I was going to use mobil1 synthetic but in the manual it said dexron vi so I didn't know what else to do. Mine is automatic and v6

That's good for the auto. For the M6, Royal Purple has worked the best for me.

Just put M1 Syn. in tranny. A whole lot better but still notchy. I think I'll try the RP tomorrow and see if that's any better.

Please let us know your results.... I used the M1 Syn too, and it still was a little notchy.... If the RP performs better, I'll give that a go

Well, I went all over the place and I could only find 2 quarts of Syncromax. DAMN!! Pep Boys said that they should be getting more in on Thursday. I'm gonna keep callin' around but I have a bad feeling that I'm just gonna have to wait!

O.K. I just called a little hole in the wall 25 miles away and they have the 3 quarts that I need. I will be doing this tomorrow and will let you guys know how it goes. For all of my effort, I hope that the RP will do the trick. Talk to ya tomorrow!

Manual V6: Gear oil (75w90)
Auto V6 : Dex VI
Manual V8: ATF Dex III
Auto V8 : Dex VI

Hope this helps!

GM's Dextron VI is synthetic, I doubt there would be too much to gain from buying Mobil.
