The White Whale
I never planned to make a car journal, much less " name" the car.
But as i waited for the car to be produced ( TPW 7/26 crew!!!!!!!!!!) i grew fond of the name. The White Whale. Big. Fat. Powerful. So i figured i'd start a journal to track the progress i make to my car. I knew from the start it would get modded, so i ordered a 1SS. If GM had offered a stripper model, ( and who doesn't like strippers?) i would have done that. The "body in white" was cost prohibitive, so the 1SS won out. Here's a few pics the first day i saw her: A big Thank you to Mark Griffin @ John Thornton chevrolet for all your help!! Jim helped some, but he's out hunting deer. Hahaha! Stock btw. So here's my first mod.
Ditch the rear bowtie and SS badges. I liked the old style badges better than the "block" letters, so i bought some from "rick's camaro's" and cut off the "posts" and filled them in before i stuck them on. Some people will not like this on a new camaro, but i don't care. The WW said that's what she wanted. Last edited by Stark; 10-27-2010 at 07:12 PM. |

My next mod was exhaust.
The car was too calm. Driving around town, i was always turning down the radio so i could hear my car. Had to fix that. So i ordered a set of Kooks 1 7/8's headers. High flow cats too, just for fun. Now if anyone has any doubts about doing this mod alone with jacks stands, basic hand tools, and some anti-seize. DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tip: When you first pull the dipstick tube, stop when you feel it "pop" out. Then push it back in. Get an idea about where it is in relation to another part of the car, i used the brake block as a point of reference. Just remove the dipstick alittle more at a time, then put it back in. When i reinstalled mine, it was cake. Last edited by Stark; 10-28-2010 at 09:23 AM. |

Pics are fine.
But most people want video of exhaust. I have a old camera so the picture came out crappy. I believe my neighbors now hate me. Oh well. Last edited by Stark; 10-27-2010 at 07:54 PM. |
