If you're still under warranty let the dealer handle that

Could be, although I rarely see entire strips of LEDs go bad, it's not unusual to see an LED go dim before it completely fails. What I'm saying is this is not a single LED, it is a strip with multiple LEDs on it.

So, your whole strip is dim, could be an easy fix, grounding problem maybe or corroded connection. You need to get your multimeter out and make sure it has the proper voltage going to it and it has a good ground.

LED do not require very much current to illuminate, but they must have the full voltage required or they will be dimmer just like a regular bulb. In this case it's 12 volts.

The lamp assembly is 86 dollars MSRP and you would probably have to remove a bunch of panels to track down the wiring to diagnose it. So you may be better off just paying the 200.

I had the same problem, It would dim and then get bright and dim again.
The dealer did not find any shorts or bad connections. They replaced it with a new one and I haven't had any problems since.
