Front windshield mysteriously cracked PICs

I went outside and i notice my front window mysteriously cracked. I didn't notice the crack before . Also inspected the window carefully and there is no damage our scratches on the outside of the window, the crack is forming from inside the vehicle i feel its a manufacture defect.

Did anyone else have this problem?

Cant really tell but it looks like that little white mark on the second picture is a impact point right above the dots.

I would recommend you have your local dealership check this out and see if they will replace the window under the 3 year 36,000 mile bumper bumper warranty. This would be your best option as far as getting the issue fixed. I hope that helps you. If you have any more issues with the vehicle you can contact me through the forum.

if not most insurance policies cover winshields, and most glass places will pay your deductible

Insurance is fine as a backup plan, BUT...if it is indeed a manufacturing issue, then bring it to the dealer and get it documented. GM can't fix anything for future cars if they don't try and capture the entire issue.

Thanks everyone with the helpful replies. I took in to my dealer and it is covered under warranty. They ordered a new window and I need to wait a week for it to come in. The size of the crack has since increased 200% from normal driving. I am a little paranoid if the crack will happen again when the new window is installed

Hope to get it fixed soon, my passenger door window also has a problem when opening the door the window hits the upper trim.

I called my dealer's service department, and he said that he hasn't seen a "stress crack" in a windshield in seven or eight years. I knew at that point that it would have been useless to drive all the way down there just to have him tell me to go scratch my ass. I certainly wish I would have seen this post prior to having my insurance company replace it. Oh well, I'll learn one of these days...

Unless there is evidence of an impact, it is covered under the bumper to bumper warranty.

Any service dept that claims they have not seen warrantable stress cracks is blowing smoke out their ass. Stress cracks happen all the time, and warranty claims for them are nothing out of the ordinary.

A good dealer would just handle it.

A POS one will come up with excuses why they don't want to handle it.

If there is no rock chip, push the issue until it's covered. Because your car has a bumper to bumper warranty, and the windshield is between the bumpers. The warranty book has a list of warranty exclusions, the windshield is not one of them.

if it is from the inside,it sounds like a warranty issue.make sure who ever fixes it,they use OEM glass.

I had a stress crack on my Solstice, called the dealer and was blown off. I searched to Kappa forums and found a few others that had similar issue, called the dealer back and was told "everything I read on the Internet is not true"

Anyway, I asked for a manager. He was skeptical and treated me like an idiot, but asked me to take it in to look at it. As soon as he saw it (and it looked like the one in this thread) he immediately said it would be covered and was very helpful, etc.

A LOT of people out there are clueless and would expect warranty to cover cracks from rocks, etc. so I can see a dealer wanting to take a look, but not being rude from the start would help...

Update the dealership did not receive the window yet and the wait has been a inconvenience, the size of the crack is now nearly as long as the whole window itself. I am not sure wtf is going on now.

I still have other issues with my door window hitting itself when being opened I can imagine it causing some damage down the road, also my camaro only has 3000 miles on it and the problems are starting to add up, I also drive my car very respectfully and haven't even romp on the car. I just hope everything performs and works as a new car should, also this is my second 2010 ss got rid of the first one because there was allot mechanical problems with it.
