It saves them money and it really isn't up to the OP what they do. They only have to hold up their end of the warranty and fix it.

Keep your car. Have them give you a new bumper to bumper warranty on the engine. Tell them if they say the engine will be as good as new then it should be warrantied as such.

not true!!! Our starting wages are more, but the Mid level and white collar wages are far behind...

The people that are working at the mall in Toronto makes more than the person working at the mall in Houston but that's it. Managers, and tech people (mid level i guess) makes way less...

But the fact that we have been pretty much even with the US dollar on the exchange for almost 2 years is getting pretty annoying.

Let's even up the MSRPs already!

Yeah, but you are paying for the extra alcohol content

American beer is cheap cause it is brown water

Oh stop, you Canadians are crazy.. The Canadian prices ARE higher. I bought mine in the US for almost $8000 less than here in Canada.

I am think the "ticking" is normal for the v6. Its likely he did not know it was a problem until the tick turned into a clack.. why do I have the urge to read Dr Suesse now?

I don't want to lay blame on the OP, but when you started hearing the "ticking" sound, why didn't you take it in right away? Instead you waited until it was "clanking" which now means a massive overhaul... and then you're upset at them because of how much is being done. I don't get that. But with your disregard of the problem, I have to wonder how hard you were driving that thing.

I don't think they NEED to give you a brand new engine... it would be nice. Hopefully they fix it up and you're good to go... but perhaps next time when a problem like that pops up, you address it sooner.

Yeah, Rick...it sucks royally. What can I say? My mill had a defect from the get go and it too 10,000 KMS to materialize. The dealer (Royal Chevy in Lasalle) has been great considering, it's just GM's policies that suck right now. I was expecting that with such a traumatic failure that they would give me another crate engine, but they are cheaping out. I am so discouraged right now, driving around our Toyota Echo I feel like such a loser! I know it's pretty petty, but if any one of you wants to lend me thier Camaro and try feeling like a man in that little sh*tbucket I would be pretty pleased to baby your car.

More later,

With the old LS1's a ticking noise was pretty much the normal. I say let GM fix the engine, I don't think they would give you a half assed repair and if it's not a problem with the block itself then why replace it? That would make no sense at all. Then if the engine breaks again under warranty or the problem doesn't go away then you would have a reason for them to replace the engine.
