Hmmm, ask and you shall recieve... Speaking of stirring shit...

OP, why would it not be a Camaro? Check your registration, I guarantee it says Camaro on it somewhere. And it's got more hp than any 3rd or 4th gen did from the factory. Or are you simply baiting the V8 guys to come in and say "oh it's just a six"? What's your goal here? My sack was as big when I had my 6 as it is with my 8. If the 6 bothers you so much, sell it brother

Let me edit and add 1 more thing. If the 1LE didn't come out in 13, I would still be grinning and enjoying my RS today. It wasn't an inferiority complex, it was that fact that I wanted a track ready car I could enjoy on the weekends.

The real question is did he buy a manual? We all know that automatics arent real cars.

What others say matters not one bit. When you are young this seems so important. As you age you will find you don't care about it at all, not one bit. Sounds like you have surrounded yourself with a worthless group. Enjoy what you want and can afford. Screw everyone else that tries to bring you down, and don't even acknowledge they exist.

Don't get caught up in it. If your looking to upgrade to more performance, do it on your want and own terms.

Ouch! Shit stirring accomplished. The only reason you are questioning this whole v-8/ real Camaro thing is that the v-8 is faster than the than the v-6,duhhhh did someone have to tell you that? Well ,here let me tell you something else , of all the Camaro models ever made in factory stock form, yours has a lower 1/4mile time than 90 percent of them. Does that mean all the others aren't real Camaro's? No. There all real General Motors Camaro's. Be a REAL MAN and tell people you bought what you wanted , and they can buy what they want too. If that ain't good enough for them, well tell them to kiss your ass! Nuff said.

I understand all about how I should drive what I want, etc., but to sum up the comments, what they are seemingly saying is that a V6 Camaro isn't a "real" Camaro in terms of the performance, power, and other things that comes usually with packages that are around the SS level with the 8 cylinders or higher.

They are saying driving the V6 Camaro with these things technically stripped away, technically strips away the actual "Camaro" experience.

So does driving a V6 Camaro in this regard come off weak in this regard? Where everything that makes a Camaro a Camaro....is gone...and only available when I get to the packages like an SS?

That's what I want to know. I understand that I should drive what I want, I shouldn't "care" what people think, and the entire nine yards. I understand ALL of that.

What I'm trying to do right now is get down to the TRUTH, I'm not a car guy and I want to know if (while saving a lot of money in the process) did I shoot myself in the foot by NOT going with at least the SS package?
The truth is you should drive what you want and quit trying to impress people with your car.
There is no other truth.

Dude, really? If you get depressed over people you don't know saying things about your car you may need some help. You have a new car, those others are jealous. Get over it and move on. Holy Shit!

The late 60s Camaros had straight sixers in them a whopping 231 or 250 cubic inches and probably didn't make much than 150 hp...

Remember they used different rating standard back then so a 150hp engine back then under todays rating method would probably be around 100-110hp
