Does anyone know what our bumpers are rated at (in terms of mph)?
Strange question I know, just wanted an answer if possible. Btw, I mean the actual steel bumper.
Thanks, Danny |

Not a clue, but the cover/foam/reinforcement combo is rated at 5 mph, iirc.

All modern cars are crash tested and approved at 35 mph. The steel bumper will be bent to hell at that

I had a guy hit me at a light from a dead stop and crack my bumper (although, maybe he was going 5 LOL! Just seems so much slower)

I was just wondering since I was working on my car this week (hw on LED reverse lights install) and noticed that the steel bumper is pretty hefty even though it doesn't protect the corners.

So a 5mph rating means that an impact at that speed wouldn't cause damage?

That anything above 5 will break the plastic bumper. The steel bumper bar is rayed at 35 mph.
