Fuel leak, need some ideas

So deep in this build and almost finished, but hit a snag. I replaced my fuel pump with a zl1 pump assembly. Had fuel to 1/4 tank and was able to get my old pump out through the floor without a mess. Installed the new pump amoung many other things and added a 5 gallon can of 93 to my tank. Woke up to a house filled with the smell of gas. Pulled my back seat and access door back off and found fuel all around the hold down ring. So its a brand new pump and brand new green oring seal. Guess i need to pull it back apart, but any ideas on how to safely get the fuel back out so i can pull the pump again?

Are you sure it's not one of the fittings or a cracked line? I assume you primed the system and called it a day? If it's an unseated pump housing you probably wouldn't have been able to get the locking ring back on properly... And fuel sloshing while driving would show the leak.

Pull fuel line a loose under hood. Switch key on and let fuel pump pump it out. Not sure on specifics

100% sure its not the line. Have no idea how its leaking because that ring is so damn tight to get on, but it is. Can watch the fuel slowly coming out from under the ring

Thought about that. Was going to take a large hose and see if i can clamp it around there somehow

Any chance you pinched the o ring?

If you are not pulling the tank, why do you need to remove the 5 gallons? Unless you get all of the gas out, the tank will still be full of vapors and that is what is the dangerous part, not the liquid.

This is really odd. Hoping its an easy fix once you figure it out.

Maybe, was pretty darn careful though. I have never seen one leak like this

Because I did the trap door method to access the pump. The fuel was level with the opening of the basket. I installed the new pump assembly and added 5 gallons. If I knock the ring off, there will be 5 gallons of gas on my ground

I ordered another o-ring for the pump assembly. Going to have to pump out the gas through the feed line at the fuel rail I guess to lower the level 5 gallons. Curious myself. Maybe i missed some dirt down in there

10-4, I guess I should have realized there was more than just five gallons in the tank if the fuel pump was leaking at the o-ring.

Still crazy though, its all brand new. Got to pump this pig down when I get some time and its not raining. The poor girl is seeing its first time out in the weather. Wife is giving me crap about the fuel smell in the house lol

Can you jack up the passenger side and let the fuel go to the other side of the tank.
