I don't think the 6th gen really separates itself from the 5th by a significant enough margin to really stand out definitively. It's only attribute is a little less weight and what, 25-30 hp? A couple of carbon fiber body parts and a better air intake and exhaust system on a 5th gen puts you right there. Handling wise I don't think a 6th gen does that any better than my fifth. But like someone said before, it's the driver really

I had a '14 SS 1LE, modified the suspension, clutch, diff, exhaust and brakes. Ordered a '22 SS 1LE after having driven many Gen6 SS 1LEs and ZL1s.....Gen6 IS a lot better in every metric except in interior roominess. To those who say there isn't much difference.....Have you actually driven both??? Handling is one of the biggest differences.

The E Diff in the 6th Gen 1LE makes a big difference on a road course. Buddy ran a 1:39 at Road Atlanta 100% stock.
That's fast.

I 100% backup this statement.

The interior of the 6th Gen is hard to get used to. I rented one years ago and when I was taking a work friend out there was man contact. The layout was wrong and the seats were small which I cannot stand and it felt more claustrophobic than a postbox.
Also the LT1 powertrains use glue for front covers, oil pan gaskets. If you have an oil pump failure or you want to change the camshaft chain and sprocket you cannot just change it leaving the engine in the car. Out comes the engine which costs thousands of dollars. This change occurred in 2014 with the Silverado and Sierras and Corvette and in 2016 with the Camaro. A complete engineering cost passed on to the customer, GM saved a little money put passed the buck to the consumer when maintenance needs to be done.
