Recommended cam for a ls3 with a Maggie

It's about that time to invest into a blower cam. I'm sure there are forums that discuss this same topic. I also live in cali not to sure if it would matter when it goes into smog. I'm looking for dynos most of all. Alot of people talk the talk but no dyno to compare. Im looking into gain hp more than anything else but as a dd. Show me what you got!!

I went with the LPE GT 14 cam. I know there are more aggressive cams out there but my local shop swears by them. Dyno sheets show gains from 525 rwhp to 590. When I got my cam installed and tuned it was really hot weather so heat soak was an issue. I thought about going back and tuned again in the fall or spring, not in the middle of summer.

BTR stage 2 or 3. I have the 3 and like the chop. Makes gobs of torque down low and has a relitively smaller lift compared to others.

I had BTR 3 very good!.. If your doing an off the shelf you can't go wrong with them.

You will see that there are 3 popular cams out there..

Cam

As a DD you need to ask yourself how much dose fuel economy play into your plan. But if that's not an issue a stage 4 CMS cam in a stroked ls3 making 700rwhp for now at 10.6 lbs of boost. Getting 7 mpg avg with this cam and engine combo and this is just an engine break in tune. Before this it was a stage 2 CMS cam with stock cubes and 13.7 lbs of boost making 714rwhp and getting close to 9mpg. This is all on e85 I tried 91 the tank before this and it really wasn't much better on mpg. So anyway there's something to think about.

Not sure exactly but i made 721rwhp/740rwtq at 10psi on my 417. More torque than my street tires will take. You can probably expect about a 75-80rwhp gain. I just drove it a few weeks ago on an 800 mile trip and averaged 21mpg. Car is an m6.

That's something to think about. It is my DD for work and I go a lot to Lake Elsinore which is 100 miles round trip. I've heard of loosing mileage going with a cam but 9mpg is nowhere were I want to be. Right now I'm avg 24-26mpg on stock ls3 with stock pulley on the Maggie.I could deal with 18-20mpg as I will be gaining some hp.

BTR sounds like the right choice as they have the kit ready to go!! My concern with be the mileage I would be getting after as it's my DD
Who will be doing the install and what are they quoting you if you don't mind me asking?

Sound like about right! Did you do the full kit or just the cam swap?

M.P.G's are directly proportional to the frequency you mash the go pedal. SannerRacing and I have (well had until he went to 416 and I had a failure) and we were off about 4-5 m.p.g on average.

We are both on E-85 with a boatload of other mods on top of the cam so IF you stay out of it and stick with boost that will allow you to use the original injectors and fuel pump, you should be able to stay around 21-ish. When you upgrade injectors, fuel pump (or twins like us) you burn through your take a lot quicker.

Cam, Springs, Lifters, install and Tune runs about $3000 in Temecula @ CMS. It may be more, but that's a good ballpark.
