Oil drain plug... which one?
I like the ease of use of the quick drain plug as well as the low chance of stripped threads. I also really like the idea of having a magnet on the plug to catch and remove any metal debris in the oil.
That's all I guess, not sure which to get as I like aspects of both. Quick Drain Plug - http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/ Magnetic Drain Plug - http://www.magneticdrainplug.com/Aut...lugs/AP04.html |

I have used the Fomato quick drain plugs on several cars, and just got one to put on my SS when I change the oil. They are great, and save a lot of time and mess.
You will need the adapter for the LS3 engine. I use a few feet of clear tubing connected to the drain nipple when I change oil. Great product.

I like the idea of a QDP, but haven't got around to getting one yet.
I did put some super strong magnets on the oil filter; I theorize that it will polarize the oil molecules, thus extending engine life and increase fuel mileage , as well as attract and trap ferrous particles floating in the oil. ...I just gotta remember to remind the service tech to put the magnets back on the new filter if I don't do the oil change m'self |

Just curious, is the "" for the gas mileage BS or the product itself? Thanks . |

Stripped out threads are from over torquing. These cars don't need oil changes that often anyways. Magnetic plug would be fine.

Now we are really nitpicking. Use the stock plug. people have money to burn aparently.
hey i know its your baby......with todays synthetics ,after the first brake in oil change, i wouldn't sweat it at all

Hey Daph! Yeah, the facepalm is for the 'polarizing' and 'extended life and mileage' BS; I do think the magnets will attract and hold the ferrous particles. Someday, I may have the motivation to cut open a filter and see for myself. Like Ronnie Rayguns used to say 'Trust, but verify' I just use plain high power magnets that I found at the flea market, not one of the form fitting filter specific types. I think they cost around a $1 each and I use 2. |

If you are only changing oil once or twice a year, how much time would you really save. Plus, I would be afraid the valve could accidentally get opened, which is nearly impossible with a standard drain plug.
