I had this happen also. The aftermarket lug nut couldn't handle 114 ft. Lbs.

I hear you on the slamming gears though. For something driven on the street a lot, it's so much fun! I have ridden in many faster cars with autos, and while a blast when you get to wind them out, I still think rowing through on my own is a more enjoyable driving experience. I realize I will never be as fast now as i would be dropping an auto into it...but mine is as much a show/fun car as it is race car, so I can live with that. Glad to know about these issues with race star lugs ahead of time. I will be getting tires on my set in the spring, so now I know to just use anti seize from the start and hope that helps, if not just buy new lugs. May have to preemptively buff mine down around the bead to help tire stick like you did as well.

I researched Mustang/Challenger/Charger/Hellcat forums....because I couldn't find any info in this forum on it......repeatedly people posted using anti-seize with no issues after using it. The procedure is..... 1) clean the lug stud. 2) apply a thin layer of anti-seize. 3) put the lug on at least 1/3rd of the way by hand. 4) then use your ratchet to put it on the rest of the way.....and torque with your torque wrench. Not one single person who used this procedure posted any issues afterwards. When using anti-seize on the lugs...just a thin line on one side of the lug stud is enough.

Well I'm glad to post that using the anti-seize today...….I had no issues at all with the Race Star lugs.....went on easy....came off easy.....I set my torque wrench @ 95 ft.lbs.
Of course at the strip today......all I could do was spin.....ridiculous 2.2X 60' times......no one on a drag radial was hooking though.....only slicks and bias ply's were getting any grip...….the prep at shadyside is normally very good....I can only remember one other time that I couldn't get the car to hook. I got there a little later than normal (30 mins before they start).....and they only had one lane open....and I didn't see anyone drag or spray the surface. 18lbs....16lbs.....14lbs....spin-spin-spin..........hopefully better prep next time. I just hope I didn't make a mistake going from a 29" tire to a 28".

I actually put the 18's up for a very cheap price on the members classifieds.....glad I had no responses ...may have to go back with them if I can't get these 17's to hook. But I'm thinking it was just bad prep today....very few people out...only 1 lane open......lots of other people not hooking up on radials. I wasn't looking for anything special today....just a clean pass I could log and send to Steve @ RDP for adjustments for the 1" shorter tire....couldn't get one......hopefully next time. 2 times of bad prep in 60 visits isn't bad...they normally have it prepped good.

I wouldn't suspect the tire, the Street R is really sticky. Like you said, had to just be bad prep. It makes all the difference, its why I cut 7.6s at the local 1/8th and 7.0s at Beech Bend. Poorly prepped tracks make for a fruitless waste of good tire. I prefer a fruitful waste of good tire to produce a good timeslip! They closed for the season here and its been pretty cold. At least you can still continue all the way in mid December over that way

I run the MT ET Street R in 275/40/17. They hook up for me on my M6 car when I have them warmed up correctly on a well prepped track. I routinely run 1.7x 60'

The first pass I do a 5 second burnout @ 5500 rpm, and subsequent passes 4 seconds....if the prep is good...... they hook. The 17" 305/45 ET Street R is 28" tall, but has the same amount of sidewall as the 18" 305/45, which (if it hooks) should give me better acceleration vs. the 29" one. I'm not expecting to run faster until I can get a clean pass and get the shift points dialed in properly. I've also ordered a 1 piece driveshaft which is 8lbs lighter than the factory one....so should pick up a little there too. 1.7 is really good for a manual with the mods you have.....that takes skill......I like the "stab & go" of the automatic.....just so much easier to cut a light. I like to race cars at the strip I shouldn't...they are faster than me....but occasionally I beat high 6 second cars because I chop the tree down on them.....that's the most fun for me. But if these 28" tires won't hook, I'll have to go back to the 29"......I think this was just bad prep though.....hopefully next trip it will be better and I can get a clean pass for tuning purposes. On the bright side though. the anti-seize works great with the race star lugs @ 95 ft. lbs.,,,,shouldn't have any more issues.

From watching all the people who frequent my strip who don't trailer their car, but drive to the strip....the ET Street R always gave the best 60' times. I would love to run slicks instead of a drag radial, but slicks aren't legal to drive on public roads. I picked up an 8oz bottle of Permatex Anti-Seize at Advance Auto Parts for $7.19 total. Buy online with 25% off and pick up at store. Used so little I can't even see a difference in the bottle level, so it should last for quite some time.....I reduced the factory lugs to 95 ft. lbs. as well, checked the torque today after 3 days of daily driving, not 1 lug had budged. Good stuff.

Just wanted to follow up again in regards to the anti-seize. Went to the dragstrip today to make a pass for tuning......Race Star lugs went on and came off easily again.

Had 2 more trips to the local 1/8th mile here, no issues at all with the Race Star lug nuts when applying a little anti-seize to the lug studs. Again....torqued to 95 psi.
