Exclamation Oil Catch Can Near Full

I installed an Mishimoto Oil Catch Can in early July and put about 3K miles and 2 track days on it since. Last night I figured I would check it because I hadn't yet.
Was expecting it to have less then an inch in there. It was 2/3 to 3/4 full.
Seemed like a lot of oil to be passing through the system, but would explain why the oil level was slightly below full.
Is this pretty common for people with catch cans?

Also there was a bit of sludge on the bottom of the can.

I take it that this is not normal.
What would be causing so much oil to be going tough the venting system and should I worry about the sludge found in the catch can?

She has 43,600 miles on her. Bought her a year ago with 36,000.

I remember when I first put mine on it looked interesting. I don't ever go that long though without looking at it. I look at it every 1k miles and clean it. Or after every race. And every oil change. It is normally 1/8 full maybe. Not a lot. I'm assuming that the sludge is from some condensation mixed in since it has been there for 3k miles and fluctuating hot cold temps? Someone else might have a better answer though. But I would check it again after 500 miles, and if it still looks like that then might have to look into something. And if it looks fine, I would check every 1k. Hope that helps!

If you are running it in the cold it can look like that. Its a mix of condensation with the oil.

From July to now, and it's full? I don't see a problem.

I had one on my TDI, and it filled up almost three times between the 10,000 mile
oil change interval. I changed oils, and it barely filled up once between the same
OCI. So, oil brand does matter. So, with all my cars, I toss in a quart of that oil
to reduce blow-by on all the other VWs I had owned.

I have one on my Mustang, it will be almost full within each oil change.

I will have one on the Camaro, though a little too late with over 130,000
miles on it. Will see how it fairs, then use that brand oil should it fill up to
quickly between OCIs.

I won't say what I am using, too many people will get upset... I will only
say it works for me, and I will continue to use it.

Awesome news. Thanks for the feedback!

I'm green when it comes to the LS and I honestly forgot about the catch can being there and how small it was.
When I cracked it open, I didn't expect to see as much in there for a NA engine.

The previous turbo SAABs I have had would fill them in about 3K miles but they more blow-by because of the higher boost being put through them. And they also had larger catch cans.

And I have pulled it out a number of times this winter. It's difficult to let her sit on a decent dry day.

Thanks again guys!
It defiantly worried me seeing sludge in there, but condensation makes perfect sense with it being winter.

You want to see nasty, run E85 in the winter.

So much water in that fuel that the oil get's to looking like chocolate milk.
