Boston Acoustics Sound?
I have a 1SS and no labels on the speakers indicating premium sound, however, the sound to me is incredible and I would believe it was premium if told so. The "Premium" Bose sound in the Nissan is put to shame by this system, which makes me wonder if I do have premium? Since I bought used im not too sure, but does anyone have any info on what must be present to know its premium and if so anyone have any insight on the differences between stock and Boston (number of speakers, sub, wattage?) I have to believe my car has a sub as it makes very impressive bass.

Bose is known for being overpriced/overrated, not for sound quality. Odd though as I thought the sound in the Camaros, BA or not, were lacking.

Do you have a visible speaker on the top middle of your dashboard? If so, you have the boston set up....if not, no you don't.
I had two camaros...one with and one without premium sound. Only difference to me was I can turn up the boston sound louder since it is amplified a bit.

The Boston system is adequate, but no real bass. I added a sub
amp and box in the trunk. If you look behind the left panel in the trunk, you will see the Boston amp and the door speakers have the Boston name on them. |

Yeah no dash speaker, took a look done see any boston name on the deck speakers. Bose does suck terribly, not to mention the cd player skipped after being replaced once for the same problem. Good to know boston isnt much better than stock. I had 2 12s and 1000 watts in my car when i was 18 so i know what extreme bass is but this works for me now.

I have the BA system in my 2SS. It's hardly ever used cause I can't hear the engine over it.

If there's no Boston badging, and no center speaker in the dash, it's just a regular base model setup.
Stock stereo systems have gotten a lot better. They utilize clipping and and bass reduction at higher volumes so the sound doesn't distort at much, and they put out okay power for mid-volume listening, so they SEEM higher quality than they actually are. It's a good thing. We've come a long way from crappy tape decks and very thin, paper-coned speakers. Stock systems can sound just fine, depending on the setup of the vehicle. They fail miserably, like in a Jeep Wrangler, where there's no space behind the speakers in the dash or up in the sound bar. It's abusive to the ears at any volume. But the Camaro has 2 6x9's in the package shelf under the rear window, and the speakers exit into open trunk space. That open cavern allows the sound to reverberate. One of the most important determinations in good bass is the cabinet design of the speaker. Where there is none in most vehicles, it's the space behind the speaker that is important. A trunk is a perfect cabinet. Doors are also a good place--lots of empty space. I forget who makes the OE head unit for the Camaro. I want to say either Panasonic or Blaupunkt, but I could be totally wrong. I'm fairly certain that the "Boston" package utilizes the same HU, but the speakers are swapped and an amp is added, plus badging. |

The 1SS did not come with the BA 9 speaker system. The BA system was included in the 2 package with USB adapter for your computer.

The BA system is more than enough, most dont know how to adjust it for the input they are using. The door speakers will say BA if you have the upgrade and that system is 245 watts.

Go to ********s website and get the plug and play adapter and throw a aftermarket amp at it. Then you can go wild with it, and add a sub....
