First official 2019 issue?

I really am disappointed to be the first(I think) with an issue on a '19. I was at a gas station and ran in to buy something. I had left the car running and had my key fob in my pocket. I came out and jumped back in the car, and all of the sudden all of my lights went out, headlights, center display, infotainment screen, everything. Then, everything started flashing, and received warning messages in the center screen to service every system on the car. None of the display gauges have values.... fuel on empty, no temp, trip miles, mpg, nothing. I drove it home, shut it off, and put the fob in the back cup holder thinking it lost communication. Went back out a half hour later, and still no values on the gauges. The car started, and shut off a few seconds later. I started the car again and it stayed running. Still getting warnings to have all systems serviced. I am so disappointed.... What a big ass bummer to have to take a brand new car that I've had for 2 weeks for this kind of an electrical issue back to my dealer...holy crap!!! I am trying the other key fob in the cup holder now to see if that might fix it....for now anyway.....UGH

Sorry to here about this, really bites, especially on a new car. Something easy you may consider trying. Disconnect the negative battery cable for about 2 minutes, reattach and see if it stills does it. This will sometimes reset certain issues. Because you left the car running and walked away with the fob, it almost sounds like how it might act if it were stolen. However, it is under warranty, just no fun going back to the dealer for service.

This may or may not have anything to do with it, but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have both key fobs in the car at the same time. The car would be receiving signals from both fobs and may cause issues. Just speculation though...

I only have 1 in at a time, not both.

have no fear, this is not a new '19 issue, this electrical issue goes right back to 2016 and there is plenty of information on here about it just google search "camaro6 electrical" and you'll find everything. Some people have had to get wiring harnesses replaced under warranty. Sorry this happened on your car. Just think of it this way, it COULD be an easy fix and if thats the only problem you have, you're doing pretty well. Most of the driveline issues seem to have been fixed by 2018 and definitely by 2019, so hopefully your drive train will be bullet proof. Go to your dealer and calmly explain the problem and work it through with them. You'll be enjoying your car once again I'm sure.

I do this all the time when taking her in for service so I can give them the second fob, never had any problems. Software wise it's trivial to support, I don't see why this should cause issues.

This is the best answer IMO. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 10-15 minutes then reattch. A full battery disconnect allows all the computers to do a hard reset.

except for the capacitors....if you want a comletely clean drain of all electrical system, take off the cables and touch them together....google “GM global reset”

I disconnected the negative terminal this morning, waited 15 minutes, reconnected it, and tried it again. It didn't work. So I called my dealer, dealer said call roadside to have it flatbedded. I went out to move the car to a better place for the flatbed, and it reset itself like nothing was wrong. Called dealer and roadside back to cancel. So I learned a lesson in all this the hard way...do not leave the vehicle running and leave the vehicle with the key fob in your pocket. It causes the fob to lose communication. Lesson learned and helpful hint for everyone.

I'm glad it reset itself. Usually, even with the hard reset, you have to drive it and the sensors will update everything. Being an electrical engineer, I've seen a lot of weird things, especially when the theory/design is sound. Stuff bugs out once in awhile.

^^I've done that a few times at home when running inside and back to the car and never had this happen. If others experience it, it could be a firmware bug they may need to patch. Another thing mentioned already are the wiring harnesses. Wires rubbing against components in the engine bay and shorting out isn't that rare as mentioned. If you haven't done so already, it wouldn't hurt to look over the harnesses to check for contact. Hopefully, it won't happen again.

Ugh, this is why I personally don't like key fobs. My Camaro too did some very strange things depending on where the key fob was and when I tired the "ACC" mode. Miss the days of just keys in the ignition....

That makes no sense though. I have done this many times with my '15 Mustang GT when I had to run inside the house for a second or forgot something. Aside from the car beeping twice to let me know the fob is not in the car when I exit, never had an issue.

If it's truly a problem with the Camaro, it should be mentioned in the owner's manual.

So it turns out the story is not over yet. The same thing happened driving to work, twice. Systems went haywire, no gauge readings, no climate controls, then everything would return to normal again. Appointment today to get it checked out.
