Best bang for the buck beefing up engine for boooooost

Just wondering what a good setup would be that won’t break the bank, and can handle 1000rwhp and maybe beyond.. (I think regardless of the setup, it’ll still break the bank). I know get forged internals, forged block, etc, etc.. Unfortunately this is unknown territory for me...

Just rods, pistons, and main studs will hold good power for a while. The issue is the liners in the ls3 block.

Best bang for your buck is to find an iron gen 4 6.0, reuse the crank in it, put rods and pistons in that, and have something that will hold 1k whp for many years

I was reading around on 1kwhp ls3s recently. It looked to me that the stock cranks are good beyond that limit. Forged rods and pistons a must. The sleeves seem to be the weak point at the level at the top of the sleeve where the water jacket is they break off. Now you could dowel the water jacket, probably the cheapest option but maybe not. Going that far you might just want to change out the block. Unless you want bragging rights for your stock block 1kwhp ls3.

The 5.3, 6.0, and 6.2 all share the same stroke crank 3.622

If you want a reliable aluminum block for that power you need to go to a resleeved block, fill your block, or go aftermarket. Just being honest

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but after you spend all those $$$$ to get the motor to produce 1000hp, the transmission, driveshaft, and entire rear end/suspension will also have to be replaced if you plan to actually use it.

Oh, for sure

The cost of a fuel system is outrageous!

I'm going cable drive right now and methanol. I bet I have 5k in fuel system alone

Yup. Agreed. Looking at clutches to support the power and some coilovers. I don’t plan on going to any tracks/strips etc. Maybe just 1/2 mile events, if time permits. Other than that, it’s 100% street.
