Sometimes manufacturers have a biiiig pile of parts left in the bin. I was checking out a new 2004 Monte Carlo SS at the dealership a few years ago and had to laugh when I saw it had an AM/FM... CASSETTE stereo! I didn't even know cassettes could still be purchased in '04, but... oh well, bought it anyway!

Since my Camaro has an MP3 interface, I have NEVER, NOT ONCE used the CD player.

Why would I want to lug CDs around? I have 600 of them stored in my iPod.

So, I bought the Camaro for the engine and the excellent A6 tranny.

Yours didn't come with one?

Mine didn't either You have to get the export model that doesn't have XM/Onstar.

I don't have it either. That's a video from an export model Camaro. Export models don't have XM/Onstar so GM gave them the 6 disc changer.

What a shame GM just hasn't made this an option for people in the states who not want XM or OnStar.

I am sort of on all sides of this. I too prefer the non-compressed sound of CD's. Those dinosaurs among us who recall really nice stereo systems with equilizers, reel-to-reel, LP's, etc, understand the HUGE difference. Thses kids don't. As for Ipods............Well my husband gave me his old one. I got really loud static pops.......so loud & thought something was wrong with my car. Then my son gave me his newer Nano. I was excited because it is the same color as my car! It just plays the same 3 songs over & over. That darn PDIM is a pain. Eventually I will take it in for update but I have to take the time to get the info off here (C5) to take to the dealer because they won't have a clue. Who has the time? Guess I will load a USB memory stick & go between it, CD's & XM until the PDIM thing gets fixed. As for the smart phone........well I'm fine with my regular cell phone & my onstar Ruby-phone (now that the minutes are cheaper). Smart phones are cool but too expensive & someone would have to teach me to use it! LOL Yeah, I'm old.
