FSP - IPF Supercharger Impressions Thread
Sorry this has taken me so long, guys! Life has gotten in the way. And I can't stop driving my car! It's like a whole new experience!
First of all, Matt and Rodney at FSP were awesome. They are both really knowledgeable about these cars and went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect. My kit was the first IPF kit they installed but I have complete confidence in it. They put a lot of work in it and triple checked everything so that my car will be good for years to come. Second, Jesse and Arno at IPF were great. Arno hadn't yet tuned a car with my mods so it took a little trial and error to get perfect, but after some late nights (he lives in Germany, 6 hours ahead of me) he got the tune perfect as far as I can tell! I've put a little over 1000 miles on it so far and all I can say is WOW! It feels like every bit of 400rwhp (on a Mustang dyno even)! It's still a fine daily driver as well. The power is very linear with no crazy surges like I've experienced in other FI cars. Down low it feels almost factory with just more oomph. This is great for bumper to bumper driving. It definitely makes its power up high and the 3.91s do a great job of getting it there and keeping it there. As expected, 1st gear is over very fast! I haven't launched the car yet but traction doesn't seem to be a huge issue. It will catch 3rd and I have started smoking tires in 2nd once but other than that it accelerates like the beast it is! I will be getting a stickier set of rubber (Super Sports) after these all seasons burn up so hopefully clear up any possible traction issues. I will probably need a new clutch sooner than later because It is necessary to feather the clutch a little upon take off so that it doesn't fly forward. Overall I am very satisfied so far with choosing IPF and having FSP do the install. I can't believe I waited so long! I recommend this mod to anyone interested in going FI. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask, and I will be sure to keep this thread updated as I rack up the miles! |

You have summarized my experience with driving mine as well here. Thumbs up.

Thanks for your interest, I'd love to share some! Truth is I was in Savannah, GA this past weekend and had full intentions of doing a shoot at a really cool site but the weather didn't think that was a good idea. Florida hasn't been the sunshine state so far this week either but I plan on a nice shoot as soon as the weather is good and I'm not working throughout daylight! I have a thread going in the photos section which I will move to the build section with the new pics. I also got my emblem pros badge in today with my new model designation! Stay tuned

I got a ticket last month on the road I travel everyday and its made me overly cautious as of late. This car just gets to illegal speeds so fast! |

I love your car man! I was going through the photo thread in the photos section and have to say that your wheels look really good. I didn't think they were going to look that good but man do they work well! The supercharger must be the icing on the cake to an already badass car!

Ah I see! What are your impressions? Are the 20s that much better over the 22s where performance is concerned?

Absolutely. I saved around 50lbs of unsprung weight that took extra power to get rotating. I didn't feel too much of a difference because all I had was a catback and an intake when I installed them. While they were on I added the Vmax TB, the Black ICEolator, and the OBX long tube headers. When I put the ZL1 wheels on, it was a HUGE difference, mainly in acceleration from a stop. I won't do large wheels on a performance car again (although 20" is pretty large!).

Yea, 20" is pretty big but I feel like it's the perfect balance of show and go for this car. I do love my 18's I guess since I've grown used to the big sidewall and I feel like it looks good with lowering but I would pick up some 20's just because they look so good on this car.
